Summary Of Changes To Covid Regulations

The Government announced a major easing of Covid restrictions, including the SafeKey being eliminated from use in most circumstances, the size of group gatherings increased from 20 to 100, reduced testing when arriving on the island and more.

“After 31 March 2022; the only restrictions that will be in place will be for masks to be worn indoors [public transport, health care, education, retail] – all other restrictions such as physical distancing, group sizes that we’ve had for the last 2 years will end,” the Premier tweeted.

Changes to Sport and Large Group Exemption Policy

In addition to the graphics released by the Government, Premier David Burt provided a summary on Twitter, saying, “In the House of Assembly of Bermuda Government announced important changes to the current public health regulations, our border policy, and the Public Health Emergency. Thread below – but TLDR summary: SK lifted/fewer border tests/TA $40/March 31 – end of most restrictions.

“SafeKey is no longer required in restaurants, members clubs, bars, gyms, island boats or to enjoy outdoor sporting events as a parent/spectator. Permitted group sizes have increased from 20 to a maximum of 100 persons.

“Large Group Exemptions [over 100 people] for indoor events will still require SafeKey, but outdoor events [including sports] will no longer require SafeKey or antigen tests for spectators.

“Border Policy Changes that will come into effect 7 March: Travel Authorisation Fees for all persons have been reduced to $40. Visitors whose vaccinations are up to date [boosted] will only need a supervised antigen pre-departure test. No further testing on the island.

“Residents whose vaccinations are up to date [boosted] will only need a supervised antigen pre-departure test OR arrival antigen test. No further testing will be required.

“Visitors/residents who have received at least 2 doses of vaccine but not boosted will do antigen arrival test & day 4 antigen test. Quarantine for unvaccinated residents reduced to 4 days – PCR arrival test & neg PCR test on day 4 to end quarantine & day 10 antigen test.

“After 31 March 2022; the only restrictions that will be in place will be for masks to be worn indoors [public transport, health care, education, retail] – all other restrictions such as physical distancing, group sizes that we’ve had for the last 2 years will end.

“I will be joined by the Minister of Health & the Minister of Youth, Culture & Sport on Tuesday Evening for a virtual town hall meeting to answer any questions that you may have,” the Premier said, and he invited people to leave questions on his Twitter thread.
