BMDS: Opening Night Of “Shorts” Show Tonight
The Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society [BMDS] announced that tonight [March 31] will be opening night for the first full-length stage production since February of 2020.
A spokesperson said, “Shorts: An Evening of Short Comedies About Death, Armageddon, Time Travel, Ocean Exploration, Arch Rivalries and Vehicular Arson is a series of six comedies written and directed by local playwright, Owain Johnston.
“Mr. Johnston has not only won the BMDS Charitable Trust Playwriting Competition five times, but also wrote another full-length play, Killing Carlisle, which was staged at BMDS’s Daylesford Theatre in 2019.
“The evening will consist of three separate performances, an intermission and then three additional performances. The casts includes seasoned and experienced actors who have participated in many BMDS productions in the past along with a few newcomers to the BMDS stage.
“The entire production team was honoured to have hosted an invited audience dress rehearsal on March 30th. The audience consisted of front-line workers, first responders and volunteers from various feeding programs, all of whom have worked tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
