17-Year-Old Injured In Stabbing In Smiths
The police confirmed there was a “stabbing incident” in Smiths this evening [July 4] with a 17-year-old male receiving “non-life threatening stab wounds during the incident.”
Update: A police spokesperson said, “Around 7:20 p.m. on Monday 4th July, 2022, police received a report of a stabbing incident outside D and C Grill, on Harrington Sound Road, Smith’s Parish.
“Upon arrival officers found a seventeen-year-old male who was reportedly involved in an altercation with another male. The seventeen year old is said to have sustained non-life threatening stab wounds during the incident.
“He was attended to at the scene by EMTs and transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
“The suspect is described as a light brown complexioned male, approximately 5’ 7” in height and of average build. He wore a black bubble jacket, black long pants and a black helmet.
“He made good his escape by running in a westerly direction along Harrington Sound Road and it is believed he may have left the area on a motorcycle which was parked nearby
“The roadway was closed off while the scene was forensically processed with traffic diverted along South Road. We’d like to thank the public for their patience and understanding during this exercise. We ask that anyone with information on this incident to please call 211or, the Criminal Investigations Department on 295-0011.”
I may be wrong but wasn’t severe punishment brought to legislation for any crimes involving knives? I believe an automatic sentence of 10 years imprisonment was suggested. Needless to say it has never been applied and thus the increase in knife related crime. Any school teacher will tell you: if you issue an ultimatum you’d better follow through or your credibility is lost.
Can’t wait for the minister of national security to make his statement, this act is unacceptable. That’s it problem solved.
Then the 100 and odd k a year pastor will make a showing. Done next case.
