Minister: Unvaccinated Travelers To Be Allowed
Amendments will go into effect on August 22, with the changes set to “allow unvaccinated travelers to come to Bermuda.”
Minister of Health Kim Wilson said, “I am pleased to advise that Amendments to the Quarantine [Covid-19] [No. 3] Order 2020 will go into effect on August 22, 2022. These changes will allow unvaccinated travelers to come to Bermuda.”
“The amendments include the following.
- Unvaccinated residents no longer have to quarantine for four days when they return to the island, and there is no requirement for a day 10 test.
- Unvaccinated visitors must take a Covid test, no more than two days before landing in Bermuda and then test again on day 4.
- Unvaccinated visitors must have valid travel health insurance to enter Bermuda and must upload proof of travel health insurance to their Travel Authorisation application for approval.
- Unvaccinated residents can take a Covid test no more than two days before landing or, if they choose not to, they must take a Covid test on arrival at the airport. They will test again on day 4, but there is no quarantine and no day 10 test.
- Residents who previously travelled with proof of recent recovery from Covid or with a medical exemption from vaccination, no longer need to provide that proof or get that exemption. Instead, those residents will fall into the category of an unvaccinated resident and follow that testing regime: pre-arrival test and day 4 test or arrival test +and day 4 test.
- Similarly, unvaccinated cruise passengers require a Covid test no more than two days before departing the port. Depending on the time it takes to travel to Bermuda, they may need to test again before disembarking in Bermuda. This is familiar territory for the cruise lines as Bermuda already requires additional testing for vaccinated travellers when the journey to Bermuda is longer than four days.
- Unvaccinated mariners will get a Covid test no more than two days before departure and, as those sailing journeys to Bermuda take more than two days, we will require them to provide proof of a negative Covid test within 24hrs of arrival in Bermuda. They can do this using a telehealth service or by going to Perot Post Office. They will test again on day 4 as well. [This approach is similar to that used by the CDC for unvaccinated travellers arriving in the US.]
- Residents unwilling to do the required testing will need to quarantine for four days upon landing in Bermuda. They can exit quarantine with a negative day 4 test.
“The above reference to Covid test refers to the following; PCR, NAAT, or supervised antigen.
“Unvaccinated travellers with Travel Authorisations [TAs] approved before August 22 who are travelling after August 22 will not have to submit proof of travel health insurance, but they will have to follow the relaxed testing and quarantine requirements on arrival [no quarantine, no day 10 test, and no arrival test if they have a valid pre-travel test].
“Unvaccinated travellers with a TA submitted before August 22 but TA not yet approved will be held to the new requirements.
“Anyone travelling to Bermuda should carefully review the entry requirements. Travellers leaving Bermuda should carefully review the inbound travel guidance of their destination. Bermuda’s Covid travel information can be found on coronavirus.gov.bm.”

So no more $40 now?
The government failed to address that in these new rules.
What are we paying for?
Drop the $40 TAF fee too, or prove 100% goes to the General Fund for the benefit of all Bermudians, and none is paid to any other person or company. There are too many rumours about who gets what out of the $40, and why it has to stay until at least April 2023. Why was Resquest given a no quote contract in violation of the Government’s requirement for any contracts over $50,000 to be bid openly? Is it unethical but not illegal? Where is the OBA to get to the bottom of this?
So we believe rumors?
You sure do when it comes to the ‘other side.’
They’re not rumours. They are facts.
The TA form is the biggest Bermuda scandal in decades.
The TA is discouraging tourists to Bermuda, while our competitors are fully booked. TA is also stopping IB visitors from coming, making us less competitive in IB.
It’s effectively adding to our unemployment, taking money away from hotels, taxis, restaurants.
And yet there is no public health benefit whatsoever.
And Burt for some overwhelming reason wants this to remain in place until ‘at least next April’.
Why is that, exactly, Mr Burt? Like we don’t already know.
You’ll believe anything the green machine tells you.
Is the government going to ever take consideration of children under 5? This group cannot get vaccinated in Bermuda and also are still currently required to get a day 4 negative test before returning to school or nursery. Makes it very difficult for travel during the school year, a hardship on the parents and children that serves no purpose. Further, it reduces airline travel costing lost tax revenue to the government and helping increase the amount paid for missed revenue with the airports.
Egomeir not getting rid of his TA form. And his puppets will not say anything, benefits are to good.
Hypocrites, imagine the opposition done this. Island be shut done.. just so you know it’s not just affecting the none FOF of Muppets, it’s affecting us all.
Go stuff yourself Bermuda,
St. Barth is fully open. We will spend our vacation there. Thank you but no thanks to your continued discrimination against unvaccinated individuals! Disgusting.
Welcome to the land of hypocrisy, homophobia and pink sand
You’re right, Bermuda is disgusting…their human rights record is abysmal….but they believe everyone wants to pay a premium to see, slightly, pink sand. LOL
This approach is similar to that used by the CDC for unvaccinated travelers arriving in the US. So we now follow the US and not the UK or even use or own minds. Nothing makes sense when they make evil look good.
Wait ? You can’t travel to the US if your unvaccinated unless your a US citizen. So how is it similar??
Unvaccinated travelers to the U.S. are not permitted to enter unless they are US citizens.
The Americans and Canadians are two of the last countries that have not opened up. Silly, outdated, nonsensical and draconian given the current data and CDC’s recent pronouncements.
Sadly, the Biden admin has poorly handled mush of this all the way along.
LOL, when bermudians comment on other countries policies…. hilarious!
Don’t go. Simple.
Oh looky here! Unvaccinated visitors can arrive on island without being vaccinated. So when will ole Biden and his administration allow unvaccinated visitors into the USA! When that answer coming since no doubt US unvaccinated citizens, etc will be allowed here!
I have been told Canada allows only vaccinated persons to Canada. Not vaccinated don’t come. True/False
Partly true. Otherwise, you have to quarantine.
The answer is not binary, it depends on many factors.
See https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/wizard-start
You can go but have to quarantine for 14 days. Tyrants running still running the country. Justin “Trudope” lol!
Well it comes down to the fact that we are desperate for US visitors and the US couldn’t care less if no Bermudian visited their country again. So don’t hold your breath.
They had their hand forced by the major cruise lines heading to Bermuda. Irrespective of what Canada and the US do, and why they do it, Bermuda is repeatedly and constantly shooting itself in the foot.
Get rid of arrival testing, and get rid of the TAF. Neither serves any purpose other than to support a private business and its investors.
Perhaps then the government can explain to us what exactly what use the TA form is to Immigration or the Health Department now? Its just a waste of everyone’s time and effort.
