Enter The Christmas Window Decorating Contest
The City of Hamilton will be hosting their Christmas Window Decorating Contest again this year, with prizes to be awarded to the winners.
A spokesperson said, “Calling all City of Hamilton businesses! Now is the time to source those Christmas lights, get creative and plan to make Christmas 2022 in Hamilton a magical spectacle for our island’s residents. The City of Hamilton is inviting all City businesses to enter our 2022 Christmas Window Decorating Contest, with awesome prizes awarded to the winners.”
“In previous years we’ve been so encouraged by the creativity and ingenuity of our window display entries,” said the City’s Marketing Coordinator Sideya Dill. “Each business that enters has a unique approach to decorating their space and it is always exciting to see the final product. It has been great to watch the contest grow over the last few years seeing more and more participants enter from all over the City of Hamilton.
“Our aim with this contest is to add some extra holiday cheer around the streets of Hamilton and to entice residents to shop locally this festive season. The window size doesn’t matter; the most beautiful display may be in the smallest of windows. You just have to be located within City limits to be eligible for entry into the contest.”
There are two categories -
- Best Christmas Window 2022 [selected by a panel of industry-relevant judges]
- People’s Choice [selected by the general public through a City-hosted voting process]
“Each participating business can only enter one window into the contest and must display the window decorating participation notice issued by the City of Hamilton in their window before the opening of voting.
The prizes are as follows:
Best Christmas Window 2022
- $1,000 BELCO Gift Certificate
- $1,000 Donation to the Charity of the Winner’s Choice
- A Social Media Feature
- A Dedicated Media Release from the City
People’s Choice
- $500 Masters Gift Certificate
- $500 Donation to the Charity of the Winner’s Choice
- A Social Media Feature
- A Dedicated Media Release from the City
“The window decorating must be completed by Monday, November 28 at 5:00 pm and must remain in place at least until Friday, December 16, 2022.
“All participating windows will be professionally photographed for judging and public voting between 6pm on Monday, November 28 and 6pm on Tuesday, November 29. Businesses must display the window decorating participation notice issued by the City of Hamilton in their window before the opening of voting.
“Voting and judging will take place between Thursday, December 1 – Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
“The winners will be announced on Friday, December 16, 2022.
