Water Service Disruptions In Pembroke

“Pembroke residents connected to Government water service lines should expect scheduled interruptions to their piped water supply over a four month period starting Tuesday, 15 November, to allow for the complete replacement of the infrastructure,” the Government said today.

A Government spokesperson said, “As the significant upgrades to Bermuda’s water and sewage infrastructure continue, the Ministry of Public Works today advised that a water main determined to be past its useful life is to be repaired.”

The spokesperson said, “Area businesses and stakeholders have already received notification from the Ministry of Public Works.

“A Government spokesman confirmed that Pembroke residents connected to Government water service lines should expect scheduled interruptions to their piped water supply over a four month period starting Tuesday, 15 November, to allow for the complete replacement of the infrastructure.

“The spokesman emphasised that this water line provides a top-up service to refill water tanks when needed and no residence should have a direct connection to it in lieu of internal pressure systems.

“Beginning 15 November, water service will be shut off on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and restored by 6 p.m. on Fridays, during each week of the construction period.

“Minister Burch confirmed that the work will be suspended on Friday, 16 December, for four weeks to ensure water service is available during the Christmas holiday period and added: “We are asking affected customers to exercise restraint with water usage during these times to ensure they have sufficient supply during the outages.”
