Bermuda Netball Association Season Continues
The only Senior Division game of the day in Bermuda Netball Association action took place inside the BDA College Gymnasium between two powerhouse teams in the Strom and Phoenix Heat.
Having lost to Phoenix Heat on Monday, the Lindo’s Tigers were out for blood, however, Storm’s youth and speed saw them lead the game from start to finish.
The Lindo’s Tigers at one point were down by 12 but with strategic planning by their coach they were able to erase that deficit down to 7. Storms defensive and MVP players of the match Débre Evans and Inshan-nae Smith played superbly like a clean-up crew. Leaping, swatting and collecting most balls that came their way.
Not to be outdone Lindo’s Tigers Defensive and MVP Player Diara Benjamin hustled and defended like a champ, the Storm would pick up the win 40 – 33.
The Storm got 24 points from Nabiilah Nasir, Zakiyah Durham added 15 points, and Amayah Smith-Burt scored once, while Charlene Gomez-Bogle scored 16 points for the Lindo’s Tigers, Jahtuere Trott added 13 points, and Candance Paynter scored 4 times.
In the Under 17 Division the Red’s defeated the White’s in the North Village Lady Rams battle. Arianna Sabir scored 20 goals to lead the Red’s to victory, J’Zari Zuill-Dillas added 13 goals, and Starr Bowen scored twice, with Nevaeh Swan named the team’s MVP, while MVP Katiah Rogers scored 9 goals for the White’s, and Ra’eesah Robinson added 8 goals.
In the other game in the Division, saw the Storm hold off Phoenix 22 – 20. The Storm would get 12 goals from Amayah Smith-Burt, with both Anisa Seon, and Jamir Hatherley scoring 5 goals each. Keyahnee Burgess was named the Storm MVP, Makaylie Smith was named Phoenix’s MVP scoring 17 goals, while Kammie Mills scored 2 goals, and Sydney Santos scored once.
The Phoenix Embers won their Under 14 Division match 25 – 13 over the Rangers. Hailey Trott scored 18 goals to lead the Phoenix Embers to victory, she was also named MVP, while Sanaa Grant added 7 goals. Saajida Daniels scored 8 goals for the Rangers, who also got 4 goals from E’Ryann Paynter, and A’Meerah Richardson-Swan scored once, with Ja’Miyah Johnston named the Rangers MVP.
The Storm defeated the North Village Lady Rams 18 – 5 in the other match in the Division. Malaysia Furbert scored 8 goals to lead the Storm to victory, MVP Naomi Crofton added 7 goals, and Nailah Barclay scored three times, Razeeyah Robinson scored 4 goals for the North Village Lady Rams and was named the team’s MVP, while Jazmyn Sutton added one goal.
