Football: Somerset Trojans & PHC Zebras Win
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with the Somerset Trojans and PHC Zebras both earning wins.
Somerset Trojans 3 – Boulevard Blazers 2
At the Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Trojans edged the Boulevard Blazers 3 – 2.
The Boulevard Blazers took the lead in the 35th minute when Ernest Trott struck a right-footed shot that left the Somerset Trojans goalkeeper Jade Morrissey stranded, but six minutes later the scores were level, a harmless shot from 20 yards out from DeAndre Wainwright rolled underneath the Boulevard Blazers goalkeeper Azir Harvey and into the back of the net, the teams went to the break with the score level at 1 – 1.
The Somerset Trojans would take the lead in the 65th minute when substitute Simeon Burrows scored, but the Boulevard Blazers thought they snatched a point when Jahzardae Samuels equalized in the 6th minute of stoppage time, however, one minute later another Somerset Trojans substitute Justin Corday scored the winner, earning the home team the three points.
Dandy Town Hornets 0 – PHC Zebras 3
The PHC Zebras traveled to BAA Field and defeated the Dandy Town Hornets 3 – 0.
Marco Warren gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 6th minute with a left-footed blast from some twenty yards out, Kadeem Abraham doubled the PHC Zebras lead one minute before the break scoring after beating the offside trap. The PHC Zebras took that 2 – 0 lead to the break and Warren added his second goal of the game in the 90th minute to help his team claim the 3-0 victory.
