  1. Good Grief…. If that’s the best the OBA can come up with, they should just pack it in now…. Adding costs to air travel through re-instating the TAF into the cost of an already sky rocketing air fares, and increasing costs to healthcare, is nothing short of boneheaded thinking…

Here’s a thought, how about reducing all taxes, get rid of the FCPT taxes that the OBA themselves are responsible for implementing, and then cut the costs of government that actually suits a 20 sq mile island that has 60k residents, and relax pretty much any obstacle in the way of those that have wealth and want to bring it to Bermuda, and also cut the red tape on any IB company that wants to bring in overseas expertise to work for them..

Bermuda needs to learn that it isn’t special, and if it wants to survive, it better change the social and fiscal course it’s been on since 2005..

There you have it folks, a short and sensible budget reply that actually would benefit Bermuda and put it on a recovery path that it so desperately needs…

You know how I know you didn’t read or listen to it fully….?

  2. Graham says:

Everyone has got wrapped up in the travel authorisation plan, which I have no issue with – frankly none of us know what taxes are added to our flights, and if we sting cruise visitors, that’s fine by me, they bring little value.

But call it something else, this is a very naive move.

And stop saying IB will pick up the tab, at some point IB says I’ve had enough, and we must surely be close to that point. Basically they are our economy.
