Ageing & Disability Services Earn PSEA Award
The Ministry of Social Development & Seniors’ Ageing and Disability Services team – Keeona Belboda, Sarah D’Allesio, Shayna Smith, Robyn Kelly, Rokeyah Brown, Alicia Martine, and Jackie Bennett – earned the Public Service Excellence Award [PSEA] for June.
A Government spokesperson said, “Last week [July 14], Premier David Burt and the Head of the Public Service, Dr. Derrick Binns recognized the Ministry of Social Development & Seniors’ Ageing and Disability Services [ADS] team as the recipients of the June Public Service Excellence Award [PSEA].
“As the community is aware, the PSEA is a programme that recognizes Public Officers who are demonstrating admirable service delivery. Each month an individual or team is selected for their significant accomplishments in the last 60 days.
“The team comprises Keeona Belboda, Sarah D’Allesio, Shayna Smith, Robyn Kelly, Rokeyah Brown, Alicia Martinez, and Jackie Bennett. Together, they are recognised for their commitment to providing quality services to Bermuda’s vulnerable populations, specifically seniors and persons with disabilities.
“On June 15th the ADS team hosted a Tea Program in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. This event was not only an opportunity to raise awareness about the risks faced by this vulnerable population but also provided an opportunity for ADS to showcase the services and activities they have developed and implemented to support seniors and persons with disabilities in Bermuda. The event was highly successful, providing seniors with valuable information and resources to help protect themselves from abuse.
“The programme included three presentations and the opportunity for seniors to interact and ask questions at multiple booths to provide additional information and literature on the topics discussed. The ADS Program Manager conducted the first presentation, providing seniors with tips on preventing abuse and what to look out for. The second presentation, delivered by the Bermuda Police Service, discussed fraud prevention and how to spot a fraudster. The third and final presentation was conducted by a representative from a local law firm, discussing the importance of Enduring Power of Attorney.
“Catering to more than 100 seniors, the Elder Abuse Awareness Day Tea Programme was a powerful reflection of the many relationships and partnerships the ADS team has developed in recent months to ensure Bermuda’s seniors receive the information needed to keep them safe and protected.”
Premier Burt congratulated the team on their win saying, “The ADS team has been a tremendous asset to Bermuda, ensuring that our seniors and persons with disabilities can access the best possible advice and information regarding their safety in this ever-changing society. Their dedication to staying informed of global trends and guiding clients and the public on key issues has been invaluable, and I thank them for their service to Bermuda’s vulnerable population.”
Dr. Binns said, “On behalf of the Public Service Executive, I would like to congratulate the ADS team on the success of this very important initiative. We are proud to have them as champions for public service, and I thank them for their hard work and commitment to making Bermuda a better place for all our citizens.”
To the awardees but the Govt. Has consistently said it is concerned about males. Ah. Not one male awarded. The Govt continues to fail.
