The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Bermuda will hold their fifth Medical Symposium on October 14th and 15th at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

A spokesperson said, “Today, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Bermuda announced plans to hold their fifth Medical Symposium, sponsored in part by The Argus Group. The two-day event will take place on October 14th and 15th at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

The Society’s President Carolyn Armstrong shared, “Multiple Sclerosis [‘MS’] is a chronic illness that has no proven cause and no known cure. Unfortunately, several of Bermuda’s residents live with this often debilitating, progressive and largely misunderstood illness.

“In addition to fundraising to support members with medical costs, one of the key aims of the Society is to further educate the island’s medical professionals and the general public, on how best to support those with MS. The Symposium will provide an excellent opportunity in which to do so.

“As per the Society’s previous Symposium’s, a panel of guest speakers will present on a range of interesting topics. Whether you have lived with MS for years, are newly diagnosed, want to learn about the latest research to find a cure or are part of someone’s support system – the Symposium will provide you with lots of useful information.

“We are extremely grateful for the extremely generous donation from the Roland W. Simons Charitable Trust which has made the Symposium a reality. We extend our thanks also to Argus Insurance for the support they have shown the Society.”

Shakira Warner, Vice President, Population Health Management, Argus Bermuda, added, “Knowledge is a powerful tool when it comes to managing and treating chronic illnesses such as MS. By coming together to educate our community, we are taking a significant step towards better understanding this challenging illness and, ultimately, improving the lives of those living with it.”

“The Symposium [which is a free event], will be held at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Saturday, October 14 [for medical professionals] and Sunday, October 15th [for the general public], starting at 9:00 am on both days.
