Natalie Price has become well-known for her wild and wonderful costumes and personas she adopts while running in local races.

She pulled out all the stops for the Chubb Half Bermuda Triangle Challenge last weekend, donning different outfits for all three races [Butterfield Mile, BF&M 10K, and PwC Half Marathon].

Teaming up with her sister Jessica Campbell, who returned to the island from the United States to participate, the pair became grannies for the Butterfield Front Street Mile, characters from the television series Bridgerton for the BF&M 10k, and Bermuda lifeguards for the PwC half marathon, referring to themselves as CJ and Pamela in a nod to the hit Nineties TV show Baywatch.

“We just tried to be silly with it and have some fun,” Ms Price told Bernews. “The spectators seemed to enjoy our costumes and cheered us on, which kept us going. We really appreciate it. It’s fun to entertain people!

“We really went into our characters, calling ourselves Lady Godiva and Lady Gaga in the 10k and would refer to everyone we saw as, ‘Lady this, or Lady that.’

“For the half marathon, we dressed up as lifeguards – our brother was a Bermuda lifeguard for 20 years at Horseshoe Bay – and jokingly offered people mouth-to-mouth!”

Ms Price, whose partner is Tim Price, known as the American Runner, often running without a shirt and wearing Stars and Stripes shorts, began running in 2006 but did not start dressing up for races until several years later.

“I’d done so many races on the local circuit, so I started to try and make it a bit more fun for myself,” said Ms Price, a Bermuda Weekenders running group member.

“I’d dress up as something connected to the race, or the sponsors, or in reference to something happening that day, such as Valentine’s Day.

“We love interacting with the runners, especially those from overseas, and the costumes really help that.”

Ms Price, 48, and her sister will next be donning costumes for the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic in Tampa, Florida, next month.

“We already have some costumes lined up for that one!” she added.
