March 15, 2024 | 6 Comments

The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] provided an overview of the “2024 plans for nonstop flight service to Bermuda with new, extended, and returning airlift across the Eastern U.S.”

A spokesperson said, “This year, travellers can access additional direct flights to L.F. Wade International Airport [BDA] that are under three hours from major U.S. cities. With wheels increasingly up to Bermuda, visitors will easily be able to experience this desirable jewel of the Atlantic.

“Newly-launched BermudAir – which debuted in 2023 – is expanding its U.S. footprint in 2024. On March 18 and March 26, the airline will launch flights from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport [BWI] and Orlando International Airport [MCO], respectively. Set to take flight April 4, American Airlines will resume its seasonal service from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport [DCA] to BDA for the first time since 2019.

“Also, in April includes the return of JetBlue’s daily service out of John F. Kennedy International Airport. United Airlines, part of the burgeoning roster of airlift to the island, is extending its seasonal service from Newark Liberty International Airport [EWR] through Oct. 26, which previously concluded early September.”

“We are thrilled to work with our airline partners as they introduce the most direct air routes to Bermuda in the past five years,” said Jamari Douglas, VP of Marketing, PR, and Communications at Bermuda Tourism Authority.

“Early booking data is showing a further increase in travel to the island this year, and we look forward to reaching new markets, as well as continuing to welcome back our Bermuda loyalists. 1. Triangle Drifter says:

Been saying the obvious for years. Bermuda needs to fish where the fish are and fish close to shore i.e. the major cities where high net worth people are and are cities that have either a direct flight or an easy same day, same airline connection.

The nonsense of ethnic tourism, sports tourism, medical tourism and faith tourism must stop. Market to people with the money to afford a Bermuda vacation.

  2. Hilarious! says:

Good news. So, how much is BTA/the Government paying the airlines for guaranteed income for these routes?

  3. Question says:

Well obviously things are better now that we finally ditched the unnecessary and universally hated TA form. We all know the only reason that existed at all in 2022 was to enrich the mysterious software company. And its mysterious can’t-be-named owners.

  4. Ringmaster says:

No mention of how often the flights are. Daily, weekly, as needed? No mention of the much heralded Africa flight?
BTA has no input into getting flights, yet takes the credit. Time clearly for another award for their brilliant work to put on the wall.

Why dont yall look into a lowcost airline from the UK like Norse. They offer flights from UK to Jamaica .. Bermuda could ba a possibility.
