BELCO Working To Restore Power After Outage
[Written by Don Burgess] BELCO advises affected residents to unplug their sensitive equipment due to an outage affecting parts of the island.
Customers in multiple parishes reported on Facebook that they had lost power. Some only suffered a brief off-and-on-again outage. At 4:50 pm, there were just over 800 people without electricity, according to the BELCO power outage page, with 792 being in Warwick.
A BELCO spokesperson said in an email to Bernews, “BELCO is aware of an outage affecting some of our customers in the western end of the island. Our crew has been dispatched and is working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Please exercise extreme caution when driving, walking or riding near our working crews.
“The safety of you, our crew, the public and all road users is paramount. if you are affected by this outage, please unplug all sensitive equipment and electronics. We thank you for your patience as we work to restore your power.”
