A spokesperson said, “Warwick Academy Primary School celebrated International Day today with the school being festooned in flags from around the world. The Purpose of International Day is not just a celebration but opportunity to bridge gaps, build connections and create lasting memories for our students. Understanding, respecting and appreciating each other’s background brings us together as a whole. It is a great chance to celebrate our students individual culture, nationalities and diversity and promote global unity. We come together to embrace the richness of our International Community.
“The students dressed in national dress, shirts from their country of choice or in the colours of a flag. The Primary started the day with an assembly simulated on a flight traveling to Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On the flight were people from around the world, all dressed in their national dress. Olympic 2024 is happening this summer and the Olympics promote diversity, unity world relationships and bring the world together through sport. The assembly started with the Year 4,5 and 6’s singing a song in Spanish followed by talented Year 6 Dylan Flanagan playing We Are The World on the piano. There was a fashion show, La dance des jeux [the dance of the Olympics] which celebrates the spirit of the Olympics, and symbolizes unity and diversity among nations. No better way to end assembly than with the Gombeys!
“During the course of the day the Teachers put on activities which the students rotated through like going around the world. In Italy they made pizza, in Wales they learnt about the language and sampled cheese, In China they made Chinese Dragon masks, in Mexico they had Tortillas and lots of delicacies from South Africa!”
