Thompson’s Bournemouth End League Unbeaten
Kenni Thompson’s AFC Bournemouth Women have missed out on promotion – despite finishing the league season unbeaten.
Bournemouth faced league leaders Exeter City Women away yesterday [May 5], with both teams unbeaten in 21 league games.
Exeter, who were two points clear, clinched the title and sole promotion spot to the third tier of the women’s game after the match finished 1-1.
Bermuda women’s national team winger Thompson joined Bournemouth from top-flight Spanish side Eibar in January.
Thompson, 23, showed impressive form with six goals in 12 league matches.
Bournemouth finished with 60 points, winning 19 of their 22 matches.
They face Southampton in the Adopt South Women’s Senior Cup final at the EBB Stadium, the home of Aldershot Town, next Monday [May 13].
