Police Confirm Death Of Steve Perinchief

The police have confirmed the death of 50-year-old Steve Perinchief following a collision in St George’s.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of the 50 year old man, who was seriously injured, in a single vehicle motorcycle collision on Southside Rd., St. George’s on Saturday 24th of August 2024. The victim has been identified as Mr. Steve Perinchief.

“At the time of the collision, it is believed that Mr. Perinchief was traveling in an easterly direction, when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with what is believed to be a curb.

“Life-saving efforts were immediately commenced and Mr. Perinchief was conveyed to King Edward Memorial Hospital for further treatment. He succumbed to those injuries a short time later.

“This marks the 5th road traffic fatality for 2024. The Bermuda Police Service would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Steve Perinchief. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call PC Bianca Glasford on 211 or email bglasford@bps.bm.

“Alternatively, members of the public are encouraged to share any information that they may have with a police officer they’re familiar with, or through the BPS online community reporting portal, https://portal.police.bm.”

Minister of National Security Michael Weeks said, “It is with deep sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Corrections Officer Steve Perinchief, who tragically passed away from injuries sustained in a road traffic accident over the weekend.

“Corrections Officer Perinchief, who was posted to the Farm Facility, was a dedicated member of the Department of Corrections for 21 years, having worked at all three Corrections facilities.

“He was well-respected and appreciated by his fellow officers and the inmates he worked with, who held him in high regard. He exemplified the mission of the Department of Corrections, and his passing is a loss to the Department and the community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. The Ministry of National Security stands ready to support his family and all those affected by this tragedy.

“A CISM team within the Ministry of National Security is currently working with Mr Perinchief’s colleagues and inmates to support them during this time of grief.”
