Football: Trojans, St. David’s & Zebras Win
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with the Somerset Trojans, St. David’s and PHC Zebras all earning wins.
First Division
Southampton Rangers 0 Somerset Trojans 3
The Somerset Trojans began their bid to return to the Premier Division with a 3 – 0 victory over the Southampton Rangers at the Southampton Oval.
Kymani McNeil gave the Somerset Trojans the lead in the 5th minute, and an own goal doubled the lead in the 39th minute as the tSomerset Trojans took a 2 – 0 lead to the break.
Tahj Wade scored the lone goal in the second half to give the Somerset Trojans the 3 – 0 lead and the win.
Vasco 1 St. David’s 3
At the BAA Field, visitors St. David’s defeated Vasco 3 – 1, St. David’s got 2 goals from Keishen Bean, and a single strike from Kieshon Wilson to earn them the win. Calum Maule scored the lone goal for Vasco.
Premier Division
Devonshire Cougars 1 St. George’s Colts 1
At the Devonshire Recreation Club, the Devonshire Cougars and St. George’s Colts shared the points in a 1 – 1 draw.
After a scoreless first half, Ne-Jai Tucker gave the St. George’s Colts the lead in the 65th minute, but the Devonshire Cougars would get an equalizer in the 87th minute when Domico Coddington found the target.
Paget Lions 2 PHC Zebras 4
The PHC Zebras started their title defense with a 4 – 2 victory over the Paget Lions at the Southampton Oval.
Haile Eve gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 2nd minute, Jahiem Iris doubled the PHC Zebras lead in the 12th minute ,and then De-Andre Wainwright scored in the 35th minute to give the PHC Zebras a 3 – 0 half time lead.
The Paget Lions began their comeback in the 48th minute when Diaje Hart scored, one minute later it was 3 – 2 with Tristen Davis finding the back of the net, but Jenico Sealey would restore the PHC Zebras two-goal lead when he scored in the 75th minute to make it 4 – 2.
