Cyclists Head To Guyana For Championships

Bermuda are sending a team of five cyclists to compete at the Caribbean Road Cycling Championships in Guyana this weekend.

Conor White and Kaden Hopkins will compete in the Elite Men’s time-trial and road races.

Tyler Smith, who represented Bermuda in triathlon at the Olympic Games in Paris in July, will compete in the Elite Men’s road race.

Nic Narraway will race in the Under-23 Men’s category, and Gabriella Arnold will compete in the Elite Women’s division.

Bermuda claimed seven medals at last year’s championships: White [gold – Men’s Elite time-trial]; Hopkins [silver – Men’s Elite time-trial]; Narraway [bronze – Men’s Elite time-trial, gold – Men’s Under-23 time-trial, and gold – Men’s Under-23 road race]; Arnold [gold – Women’s Elite time-trial]; and Liana de Medeiros [bronze – Women’s Under-23 road race].

The team will be supported by Peter Dunne, the Bermuda Bicycle Association [BBA] president, and Darren Glasford at the championships, which run from Friday [November 1] to Monday.

“The championships will bring together top competitors from across the Caribbean, all vying for championship titles,” read a BBA social media post.

“BBA president and Caribbean Cycling Union treasurer and executive committee member Peter Dunne will represent Bermuda at the Union’s annual Congress during the event.

“Join us in cheering on Team Bermuda!”
