UK Game Off Because Of Bermuda Call-Ups
A village football club in the eighth level of the English pyramid have had their game postponed because of international call-ups, including two Bermuda national team players.
Lancing, who are based in West Sussex, were scheduled to face Three Bridges in Crawley in the Isthmian League South East Division today [Oct 12].
However, their Bermudian players Luke Robinson and Knory Scott will be representing the island in the Concacaf Nations League against Dominica at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium.
Lancing are also without Charlie Gibson and Sam Bull who are playing six-a-side for England at the World Minifootball Federation Under-23 World Cup in Croatia.
“It’s ridiculous for a club at this level,” Barry Sutton, Lancing chairman, told BBC Sport.
“To have one person called up [Scott, last year] was something we celebrated, but to have four off in the same week is unheard of.”
