A spokesperson said, “As the international beach volleyball 2024 calendar continues, the Bermuda Volleyball Association [BVA] is proud to announce its participation in two of the upcoming final NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Stops. The first event, being a senior competition, takes place this week, October 2-4, 2024, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, followed by a U23 tour stop from October 7-9, 2024, also hosted in Punta Cana. The NORCECA Beach Tour is the premier beach volleyball tour for the North American, Central American, and Caribbean zone, with these two events marking the fifth and sixth tour stops of 2024.

“The first event will feature the men’s pairing of Benjamin Barnett and Sean Tucker. In the U23 event, Bermuda will be represented by the men’s team of Alexander Southern and Braedon Cooke, and the women’s pairing of Kaylee Trott and Hailey Trott.

“Participating countries in these events include the United States, Canada, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, US Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, St. Kitts & Nevis, and St. Vincent.”

Co-President Brandon Sousa added, “Our athletes have worked incredibly hard throughout the year, and it’s rewarding to see them compete at such a high level. These NORCECA Tour Stops are a crucial opportunity for them to not only compete against some of the best teams in our region but also to represent Bermuda on the international stage. We’re especially excited to capitalize on the success of our U21 teams that represented Bermuda last month in St. Kitts & Nevis. Their determination and achievements have set the stage for continued growth in our beach volleyball program. I’m confident that this next group of athletes, with their passion and perseverance, will leave a lasting impact on our beach volleyball program and Bermuda as a whole.”

The spokesperson said, “The Senior team of Barnett and Tucker kick off their competition this morning, October 2, in pool play against Cayman Island and Dominican Republic.

“The BVA will continue to provide updates as the competition progresses.
