Notices For City Christmas Boat Parade
The City of Hamilton has shared key updates and road closures for the highly anticipated 2024 City Christmas Boat Parade on December 7th, featuring dazzling displays and a drone show in Hamilton Harbour.
A spokesperson said, “It’s almost time for the holiday event of the season! With the 2024 City Christmas Boat Parade just days away, the City of Hamilton has issued important public notices and road closures to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all attendees and road users.
“On Saturday, December 7th, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, Hamilton Harbour will come alive with this much-anticipated event, promising an unforgettable evening of holiday magic.
“For the best viewing experience of the drone show, we recommend visiting the free Viewing Village, located at Number 1 Car Park. However, those with mobility challenges or unable to attend in person can enjoy both the boat parade and drone show via livestream on YouTube.com/jrocbda, Bernews, and the City’s Facebook page.
“Traffic Control Measures for Saturday, December 7th, 2024
- Front Street Closure: Front Street will be closed from Queen Street to Parliament Street, including Number 1 and Number 5 car parks, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
- One-Way Streets:
- Harbour Road: Between Manse Road and Stowe Hill [easterly direction only].
- The Lane: Between Stowe Hill and North Roundabout [easterly direction only].
- Parking Restrictions:
- No Parking: Manse Road, Chapel Road, and Cavendish Road [both sides]. Drivers are reminded to adhere to the Road Traffic Act 1947, which prohibits parking on sidewalks.
- Permitted Parking: On the north side of Harbour Road between Manse Road and Lovers Lane.

“Additional Notices
- No-Fly Zone: Public drones are strictly prohibited within a 0.25-nautical-mile radius of White’s Island during the event [refer to the map below].
- Drone Show Operational Zone: A 150-foot perimeter around White’s Island is designated for drone show operations. Boats are not allowed in this area during the event.
- Garbage Collection: Businesses in the parade area must place garbage out for collection by 4:30 PM on Saturday, as there will be no pick-up after 5:00 PM.
- Boat owners: It should be noted that ONLY parade participants will be able to anchor their boats in the parade route area to watch the drone show. Spectator boats will not be allowed in the area.
- Boat Parade Route: The boat parade route has been slightly truncated this year to ensure a continuous and engaging experience for spectators [see below image for full route].

“Additional trophies will be awarded for Best Community Message, Most Original, Most Humorous, and Children’s Choice.
“Families can enjoy the free City Viewing Village and Kids Zone, located at Number 1 Car Park, which will feature interactive entertainment, family-friendly activities, face painting, rock climbing, and toy vendors. A variety of food vendors will also be on hand, offering festive treats and refreshments.

“The evening will culminate in a spectacular holiday drone show, the largest in Bermuda, filling the sky above the harbour with breathtaking lights and festive wonder which will commence at 8:30pm. Hosting the festivities is the dynamic Patrina O’Connor, also known as “Power Girl,” who will bring fun and excitement to this spectacular event.”
