Detective Inspector Clifford Roberts Retires

After 38 years of dedicated service, Detective Inspector Clifford Roberts has retired from the Bermuda Police Service.

A police spokesperson said, “At a retirement recognition gathering held Friday morning [17th January 2025], Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons, his Senior Leadership Team, as well as colleagues and friends, reflected on Detective Inspector Roberts’ 38 year policing career.

“Having worked in a variety of areas within the Bermuda Police Service [BPS], colleagues and friends described Detective Inspector Roberts as a trailblazer and a standard bearer, from when he joined as a Police Cadet in August 1986 up until today.

“Known for being well dressed, both in uniform or in business attire, with his trademark bow tie, his leadership, natural ability to teach and mentor others was highlighted, plus his encouraging personality that positively supported his co-workers over the years.

“A gifted sportsman who was briefly employed as a firefighter, Detective Inspector Roberts expressed pride in his community engagements, including as chairman of the BPS Police Week Gymkhana committee since 2007 and more recently, as the catalyst behind the popular Man on the Run event, championing men’s health awareness.”

In his closing remarks, Commissioner Simons summed up Detective Inspector Roberts’ contributions to the BPS and our community by saying, “He has a heart for people.” Thank you for your service, Detective Inspector Roberts! We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.”
