Emperial Group List Of Endorsed Candidates

February 17, 2025 | 7 Comments

The Emperial Group – which has one candidate in this election, Eugene Dean in C33 –  has released the list of candidates that they are endorsing in various constituencies.

A spokesperson said, “The Emperial Group entered the political arena to remove the PLP from office, create a pathway to a coalition government, and address the leadership vacuum that has left Bermuda’s electorate disenchanted. Today, the political landscape has shifted dramatically—from years of limited political engagement among a select few, where third-party options were dismissed, to an unprecedented number of challengers contesting the incumbent government. Not only are these candidates now being seriously considered, but in some cases, they are the most viable contenders.

“While the Vote for Unity campaign has been widely embraced as a practical, wise, and intelligent approach, it has been anticipated that the execution would be challenging due to conflicting egos and mistrust. Emperial Group’s interactions with the combined opposition have confirmed this reality. Despite their shared objective of removing the PLP, internal divisions and individual ambitions continue to hinder collaboration.

“A seemingly straightforward exercise—identifying and uniting behind the strongest candidate in each constituency—remains a significant challenge. A strategic allocation of seats among the opposition forces [e.g., OBA securing 14 seats, independents winning 3, and FDM taking 2] would establish a majority and enable the formation of a coalition government.

“Both the OBA and independent candidates have sought the Emperial Group’s endorsement. However, their priority is not to favour any particular party but to ensure that endorsements contribute to electoral victories rather than splitting the opposition vote. Their goal remains to facilitate a unified strategy that maximizes the likelihood of a government change.

“With that in mind, the candidates they endorse from the combined opposition in winnable seats are as follows:

  • Constituency #2 Tiffany Paynter IND
  • Constituency #3 Maurice Foley OBA
  • Constituency #5 Desmond Crockwell FDM
  • Constituency #7 Robin Tucker OBA
  • Constituency #8 Ben Smith OBA
  • Constituency #9 Vance Campbell OBA
  • Constituency #10 Robert King OBA
  • Constituency #12 Craig Cannonier OBA
  • Constituency #13 Renee Webb IND
  • Constituency #15 Malachi Symonds OBA
  • Constituency #17 Sophia Cannonier OBA
  • Constituency #18 Omar Dill FDM
  • Constituency #19 Suzie Arruda IND
  • Constituency #20 Michael Fahy OBA
  • Constituency #22 Scott Pearman OBA
  • Constituency #23 Jarion Richardson OBA
  • Constituency #24 Lauren Francis IND
  • Constituency #25 Douglas DeCouto OBA
  • Constituency #27 Dion Smith OBA
  • Constituency #28 Gavin Kennedy IND
  • Constituency #30 Dwayne Robinson OBA
  • Constituency #31 Juanae Crockwell IND
  • Constituency #32 Kellan Lewis OBA
  • Constituency #33 Eugene Dean EMP
  • Constituency #36 Cire Bean IND

“In conclusion, the path to a successful coalition government hinges on the ability of candidates and voters to unite with a shared goal: removing the PLP from power. This requires putting egos aside and embracing candidates who genuinely represent the best chance for victory. By focusing on collaboration rather than individual ambitions, the combined opposition can harness its collective strength and create a formidable challenge at the polls. Together, let’s prioritize the greater good over personal interests and work towards a future where unity leads to meaningful change.”
