Minister Congratulates Bermuda College
“I congratulate the Bermuda College faculty, staff, and administration on their 50th anniversary, a remarkable five decades in pursuit of excellence and commitment to our community,” Minister of Education Crystal Caesar said.
A spokesperson said, “The success of Bermuda College, its students and alumni should make the island proud, according to the Minister of Education.
“On April 5, the College will host a gala dinner celebrating its 50th anniversary at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club where it will honour alumni, employees and past Presidents.
“Among those being recognised for their work are Dr Terrylynne Emery, Bermuda’s first female Bermudian obstetrician, Rees Fletcher who served as Chairman and President at Chubb Bermuda, Larry Mussenden, the Chief Justice of Bermuda, and Dr Malcolm Brock for his academic and professional achievements.
“Crystal Caesar, the Minister of Education, said she was proud of the College’s accomplishments, adding that it was a centre of excellence that had helped thousands of Bermudians further their studies and careers.”
She added: “Since 1974, under the visionary leadership of its first Chief Executive Officer, Mansfield H. Brock Jr, the College has built a stellar reputation, transforming lives through innovative education.
“Through its work and thanks to the dedication of its staff, Bermuda College has helped Bermudians scale great heights, as shown by the alumni being honoured.
“We should all be proud of its activities. I congratulate the Bermuda College faculty, staff, and administration on their 50th anniversary, a remarkable five decades in pursuit of excellence and commitment to our community.”
Ben Smith, the Shadow Minister of Education, also congratulated the College adding: “Those being honoured are Bermudians who have been exceptional in their respective fields and excellent role models.
“It also shows the calibre of the teaching at the College and how an education there can be a steppingstone to future success.”
The spokesperson said, “Since the College opened 50 years ago, thousands of students have passed through its doors, and it has established almost 40 agreements and partnerships with accredited colleges and universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the West Indies/Caribbean Islands creating transfer pathways for Bermudian students to further their studies abroad.
“Under the partnerships, students can transfer credits from the College’s associate degree programmes to institutions abroad, where they can complete their Bachelor’s Degree.
