Scott Barnes Starts Stars Series Campaign
Karting driver Scott Barnes is gearing up for round one of the Stars Championship Series – Queen Gambit City – at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina this weekend.
Barnes, who drives for Maranello Karts USA, finished runner-up in the Rok class and fifth in the Pro Shifter Masters KZ class in his maiden Stars Championship Series last season.
The Bermudian, who will race in the Pro Shifter Masters KZ class, said it was unlikely he will complete the series because of work commitments on the island.
“Its a cool track,” Barnes told Bernews. “I swept round one last year, so I’m hoping for the same luck this weekend.
“Tomorrow we have qualifying and two heat races. On Sunday, it’s the pre-final and final.”
Round two will be the King of the Castle, in New Castle, Indiana, from June 6 to 8.
Barnes, who races for Maranello Karts USA, is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, and All Rise Limited.
