Cricket: Premier & First Division Results
Bermuda’s cricket leagues featured Premier and First Division matches with varied results. Bailey’s Bay secured a win, Somerset Cricket Club triumphed against St. George’s, and St. David’s dominated their East End derby in Premier Division action. In the First Division, Southampton Rangers and PHC recorded decisive victories.
Premier Division:
At Sea Breeze Oval, Bailey’s Bay defeated Devonshire Recreation Club by six wickets. Devonshire chose to bat first and were bowled out for 89, with Macquille Walker taking 3 wickets for 10 runs. Bailey’s Bay reached the target in 18.3 overs, scoring 90 for 4. Azende Furbert remained unbeaten on 30 for Bailey’s Bay, while Shaquille Pitcher claimed 3 wickets for Devonshire.
Somerset Cricket Club won a tight match against St. George’s Cricket Club by 15 runs at PHC Stadium. Somerset posted 147 for 4, with Jermal Proctor scoring a crucial 76, including ten fours and one six. Proctor also took 2 wickets for 15 runs as St. George’s were restricted to 132 for 9. Jonte Smith top-scored for St. George’s with 37.
St. David’s Cricket Club recorded a ten-wicket victory over Cleveland County at Lord’s. Cleveland County, after being put in to bat, were dismissed for just 33, with four batsmen run out. St. David’s chased down the target of 34 without losing a wicket in 3.5 overs, with Tre Manders unbeaten on 21 and Marcus Scotland not out on 11.
First Division
Southampton Rangers claimed a 99-run victory over Western Stars at Sea Breeze Oval. Southampton Rangers posted 162 for 2 after electing to bat, with Dion Stovell scoring an unbeaten 62 and Jordan DeSilva not out on 56. Western Stars were bowled out for 63, with Dion Stovell taking 3 wickets for 6 runs.
PHC defeated Somerset Bridge by 61 runs at PHC Stadium. PHC scored 182 for 1 in their 20 overs after being put in to bat. Charles Trott struck an unbeaten 64 off 27 balls, including seven sixes, and Christopher Douglas contributed 64 before retiring hurt. Charles Trott also took 3 wickets for 16 runs as Somerset Bridge were bowled out for 121. Samir Tavares-Place scored 33 for Somerset Bridge.
