Gayle Lindsay Receives Leaving Gift Book
Gayle Lindsay, a three-time Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby winner, has received a signed copy of Dale Butler’s book, Marathon, which documents the historic May 24 race, as a leaving gift.
Lindsay, the reigning women’s champion, was presented with the book by Dr Gina Tucker, the president of the Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby committee, at John Smith’s Bay at the weekend.
“She’s leaving the island,” read a bdamarathon social media post.
“Three-time Derby champion and reigning Derby queen Gayle Lindsay had her ‘last lap’ this morning with a group run at John Smith’s Bay.
“After the run, Derby president Dr Gina Tucker presented Gayle with a signed copy of Dale Butler’s book, a historical documentation of the Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby.
“We will miss Gayle being a part of Bermuda’s community, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours!
“Gayle’s departure means there will be a new Derby queen in 2026…who will it be?
Linday, who arrived on the island from Scotland 13 years ago, will represent Bermuda at the International Island Games in Orkney, off the north coast of mainland Scotland, next month.
