Arnold Finishes 47th In Big Sugar Gravel Race
Bermudian cyclist Gabriella Arnold was forced to change her strategy at the Life Time Big Sugar Gravel race in Arkansas after organizers shortened the course for safety reasons.
Severe storms and a tornado watch prompted event officials to move all 100-mile riders, including the elite field, to the 50-mile course,
Arnold competed in the Big Sugar 50 Mile Elite Women’s race days after winning two medals at the Caribbean Elite Cycling Championships in Belize.
Sofia Gomez Villafane, the Life Time Grand Prix leader, dominated the shortened race, securing a decisive victory with a winning time of 2 hours, 36 minutes, 23 seconds.
Arnold finished the demanding gravel course with a time of 3:15:26 in 47th place.
