TOYA Hosts ‘Big Up Yaself’ Youth Conference
“The Office of Youth Affairs successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Big Up Yaself National Mini Youth Conference on 29 and 30 January 2026, bringing together young people from across Bermuda for two days of learning, connection and empowerment.
A Government spokesperson said, “Held under the theme Protecting Your Peace: Online Safety and Digital Wellness, the conference focused on equipping young people with tools to navigate the digital world safely while prioritising their mental and emotional well-being. The event aligns with Youth Policy Goal #1, which seeks to keep young people safe and protected from harm.”
Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors Tinee Furbert praised the impact of the conference and the level of youth engagement throughout the two days, stating, “Big Up Yaself continues to be a powerful platform for reaching our young people where they are and addressing the real challenges they face online and offline. By focusing on digital wellness and online safety, we are empowering our students to protect their peace, make informed choices and support one another in an increasingly connected world.”
A Government spokesperson added, “The two-day conference welcomed students from both public and private schools, with Day One dedicated to high school students, which included 53 young people, and Day Two engaging primary and middle school students with 213 registered participants.
“Interactive workshops were delivered by The Family Centre, Solstice, Dion The Creative, Carlos Santana and Sloan Johnston, offering age-appropriate and thought-provoking sessions that encouraged open discussion and practical learning. Additional activities were provided by Litt-Really Fun Entertainment, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience throughout the conference.
“Feedback from participants highlighted the success of the event, with many students describing the sessions as exciting, informative and highly engaging. Several young people expressed enthusiasm about attending the conference again next year, reinforcing the continued importance of safe spaces where youth can learn, share and grow. The Office of Youth Affairs remains committed to delivering programmes that support the wellbeing, safety and development of Bermuda’s young people.”
