The Mirrors Programme has launched its 10th annual student art and digital competition, “Our Island. Many Stories,” inviting entries for the 2026 showcase.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Mirrors Programme is pleased to announce its 10th Annual Student Art and Digital Competition, titled “Our Island. Many Stories”. The competition is open to students enrolled in local public and private schools for the 2025/2026 academic year, with one entry permitted per student. The deadline for application forms is Friday, 8 May 2026, and completed artwork must be submitted by Friday, 12 June 2026.”

Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors Tinee Furbert stated, “We were thrilled with the level of participation from schools in previous years. Over the past decade, Mirrors has received hundreds of submissions showcasing students’ talent and unique interpretations of various themes through art. Some of our earliest participants have gone on to further develop their skills, producing work both locally and internationally.”

The Government spokesperson said, “The exhibition will be on display at Washington Mall from 29 June to 2 August 2026, where members of the public can vote for their favourite entries in the People’s Choice category.

“Programme Manager Kimberley Jackson highlighted the importance of creative expression, noting the impressive talent of Bermuda’s young people and encouraging increased participation in digital submissions. These may include tablet-based artwork, graphic design, digitally edited photography, and recorded performing arts such as dance and short films. Group submissions are also being introduced for the digital category this year.

“Masterworks will once again partner with Mirrors for the exhibition. Jasmine Lee, Curator of Contemporary Art, expressed continued support, noting the alignment between the missions of both organisations in fostering creativity and positive self-expression among young people.

“The competition invites students to share their personal perspectives of life in Bermuda through art. Winners will be announced following the close of the exhibition, with a prize-giving ceremony scheduled for mid-September.

“Applications can be submitted online at https://mirrors.bm/art-digital-programme/. Physical artwork should be delivered to Masterworks Museum in the Botanical Gardens, and digital submissions sent via WeTransfer to jjwoods@gov.bm.
