ESports Initiative To Develop Bermuda Talent
ESports Bermuda and Bermuda Island Games are launching a “strategic initiative designed to transform gaming from entertainment and screen time into a pathway for education, skill development, competitive ESports and future careers.”
Founder Adrian Lodge said, “We are looking to raise awareness of ESports Bermuda, and simultaneously increase our productivity for Bermuda Island Games. This initiative does both!”
A spokesperson added, “The initiative brings Roman S. Montagueo, founder of Steam Your Dreams and creative leader of Creative Mindset Productions, back to Bermuda to help develop a pipeline where young gamers can discover their potential early, develop transferable Stem skills and ultimately pursue opportunities as professional Bermuda ESports players competing nationally and internationally.
“Montagueo is no stranger to Bermuda. He was an expatriate resident from May 2010 through November 2012, living in Paget and serving as a Senior Business Technology Consultant with Emergence Ltd. During his time on the island, Bermuda helped inspire his Ocean Bowl children’s series, which later became the creative foundation for the Ocean Bowl Games ecosystem and Aquaball League.”
“I love Bermuda. Bermuda was part of the inspiration behind Ocean Bowl, so coming back to help create opportunities for the next generation here is incredibly meaningful to me,” he said.
From Screen Time To Investment Time
A spokesperson added, “Through Steam ESports, gaming becomes more than entertainment. It becomes an opportunity to play, learn, create and compete.
“Ocean Bowl eGames and experiences such as AquaBall League introduce young people to Stem concepts, ocean awareness, conservation, sustainability and environmental science through gamified experiences.
“Aquaball League is an aquatic sports game inspired by the accessibility and competitive energy of games such as Rocket League, but featuring aquatic animals and an ocean-centered world.
“The concept is designed to make learning fun while creating an early entry point into Bermuda’s developing ESports ecosystem.
“Play → Learn → Create → Compete → Advance
“A child who begins by playing can discover an interest in science, game development, 3D design, animation, programming, broadcasting, entrepreneurship or competitive gaming. And that pipeline can eventually lead to the adult ESports arena.

“The vision extends beyond youth programming. ESports Bermuda and Bermuda Island Games are working toward a broader ecosystem that can engage children, teenagers, adults, competitive players, creators, developers and ESports enthusiasts.
