Dinos Iourdanou To Chair ABIR

Arch Capital president and CEO Constantine (Dinos) Iordanou will begin a two-year term as the new chairman of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) on January 1, it was announced today (Dec. 20).

Mr. Iordanou, 60, succeeds Patrick Thiele, the retiring president and CEO of Partner Re Ltd., as chair.

Other officers who will begin their two-year terms on New Year’s Day are Michael McGavick, CEO of XL Group P.L.C., as first deputy chair; and John Charman, president and CEO of AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd., as second deputy chair.

Mr. Iordanou has president and CEO of Arch Capital Group Ltd. (ACGL)  since August 1, 2003.  He joined ACGL in 2002 and prior to that held various senior positions at Zurich Financial Services, Berkshire Hathaway and the American International Group. Mr. Iordanou holds an aerospace engineering degree from New York University.

ABIR represents 22 Class 4 property/casualty insurers and reinsurers with principal underwriting operations in Bermuda.
