Hospital Lock-Down Was A Precaution

July 13, 2011

Earlier this afternoon [July 13], we were made aware that the King Edward Memorial Hospital was in a state of lock-down. Messages were being sent via e-mail and Blackberry Messenger as people were speculating what the cause may have been.

A Hospital Spokeswoman said, “BHB confirms the hospital was on restricted access for about 30 minutes earlier this afternoon as a precaution due to a potential incident involving an aircraft at the airport.”

“This means the emergency room was closed to non-essential personnel but operated normally for patient care and emergency services. No emergency services were needed as a result of the incident at the airport and all hospital services have resumed as normal at this time.”
