  1. Truth is killin' me... says:

And I wonder, wonder, why my insurance is so high!? These drunks should be banned from the roads!!!!!!!! Don’t give me any stories about a cat jumping out on the road and chickens blah, blah blaaaah!!!!!!!

    • Just One says:

Exactly! I’m sick of all these unnecessary accidents, some which are fatal! i wish there was a number that we could (pull over and) text certain license plates to so that the cops could keep an eye out for certain road users. Some people don’t deserve to drive/ride on our roads!

    • dela vu ,all over says:

Here we go again .. Without knowing the facts everyone jumping on the ‘alcohol , drunk driving’ bandwagon.

Read what ‘finally’ says .. I bet they’re the only one here who really has a clue .

      • Brosive says:

ummm…. The article did say the driver was arrested for suspicion impaired driving….

    • Cleancut says:

And if you were out jogging or traveling at the wrong time, this little sucker would have had you.

  2. Mad Dawg says:

It’s amazing how cars going along at under 50k suddenly flip over.

  3. Peace says:

Does anyone know what happened in the Scaur area yesterday pm? I was in traffic for ages.

    • Arthur - Atlanta says:

I received info (and photos) that a jet ski being towed came lose and hit a cyclist causing serious leg injuries and also seriously damaging another vehicle.

  4. finally says:

i recognize those rims. If it’s the same car I think it is, i’m surprised this hasnt happened sooner. I’ve seen this car overtaking 3 cars on Harbour Road

  5. James Goodfellow says:

Another car flip???? What is it with Bermudian drivers? Is there some sort of retardation pill that these drivers take?

    • Ole says:

Having lived in multiple states and visited scores of countries only a retard would suggest that this is an issue seen primarily in Bermuda..

      • comprehend says:

I think what JG was suggesting is that for a very small place with a low speed limit this happens a lot .

I don’t think anyone is acting like it doesn’t happen anywhere else and that was not what my interpretation of what he was at all implying.

It’s not nice to call sensible posters ‘retards’ .

      • Bermuda3 says:

@ Ole. Fantastic, it happens elsewhere, this is a bermudian website and therefore i am not concerned with this happening in other countries. The fact that it is happening in our country is the real issue. Stopping it here is what matters, “scores of countries” can take care of theirs, while we fix ours.

        • Brosive says:

What James goodfellow said was “What’s up with Bermudian Drivers” implying that this problem only happens here.

What Ole said was saying is that this happens everywhere.

What makes your comment relevant to this conversation?

      • Zombie Apocalypse says:

But Ole, you have to admit that it takes a special kind of moron to flip a car at 50k.

      • Billy Mays says:

Mental retardation is typically the involuntary result of birth defect or brain injury. The kind of driving that we witness the results of here is the result, apparently, of VOLUNTARY stupidity, in addition to blatant disregard for the safety of others who may be on the road. This driver’s behaviour demonstrates massive stupidity and lack of basic morals.
To attribute this crash to “retardation” is patently unfair to the mentally retarded.

  6. KS18 says:

luckily no one was seriously injured.

    • GMS says:

Now I don’t wish any harm on innocent people, but I think part of the problem is that folks who drive like this don’t get injured often and seriously enough. Humans react to incentives and if people see that they can walk away from these wrecks with no injuries, there’s no incentive for them to slow down and heed to caution.

One of the reasons that people drive so terribly here and flout so many traffic laws is due to the low speed limit. I am not advocating a higher limit, but folks who drive elsewhere at higher speeds no that the cost of a wreck could be much higher due to the simple forces of physics. They know that if they roll a car at 60mph, or run a red light and get t-boned by another vehicle at 40mph, that it will hurt and cause much damage and injury. There is not the same worry here at 20-30mph.

I don’t know how we can curtail these unruly actions on our roads other than through a much greater police presence and enforcement. Twenty years of heavy duty education on the risks and consequences of drunk driving don’t seem to have done enough to curb the activity. Are we slow leaners or are we too dumb to heed the lessons that life tries to teach us?

  7. Reverend Pastor says:

Looks like a straight piece of road too. Speed?? Distraction??

  8. nodak says:

    No brains..No headaches..

  9. Claudio says:

Correct me if I am wrong but insurance companies do not cover drunk drivers am I right?

    • Brosive says:

I believe they only cover another vehicle if the drunk driver hit somebody. But health insurance is another issue, I believe they cover any injury the driver sustains regardless of intoxication. But don’t quote me on that, not 100% on that neither.

    • Nonsense says:

As brosive said insurance covers the third party in a drunk driving case but doesn’t cover the vehicle being operated by the drunk driver. Sadly the third party is usually seriously injured which can rack up plenty bills!

  10. Allan says:

No brain, no pain! If we work together more on this island, perhaps the idiotic can be weeded out. In Vancouver it is hard to drive for more than a few minutes recklessly, or obviously under the influenance as all the Taxis network with the police, so they help combat this type of behaviour.

  11. The Truth (Most Imitated) says:

They speed on these roads with soft suspension on the car, and this car had four people in it bouncing all over the place. And if it happened on the bend going down hill from Elbow Beach heading west, that’s a recipe for disaster you have to respect that turn at any speed. A bus went over on that turn some years ago. All I can say is we can’t assume the driver was drunk I’ve seen people do this falling asleep at the wheel. But nine times out of ten the driver was over the influence of alcohol..These people mix weed with alcohol both are depressants witch can be dangerous. Especially while driving. SMH!!

    • bermy$hotta says:

      Wrong…herb a mix of a depressant and a stimulant.

      • The Truth (Most Imitated) says:

People smoke marijuana because it elevates their mood and relaxes them. Depending on the level of THC, users may also experience euphoria, hallucinations and paranoia. Short-term Hazards include:

        Anxiety and paranoia
        Impaired memory
        Difficulty in thinking
        Learning difficulties
        Lack of attention and focus
Poor driving skills. It is also a medical fact that mixing one drug with another, witch alcohol is also a drug can enhance or decrease the effect of one or both drugs.

        • Brosive says:

What weed have you been smokin’? That sounds like the highest grade on the planet! LMAO what a dunce.

  12. young observer says:

    Damn kiddy I jus saw u that day… 1st hope ya str8
N 2nd hope u learn from ur mistake like I have! Bless up

  13. Opressed says:

The stretch of road from the new slums, by Swizzle Inn, to Elbow Beach is a drag strip. Every night you can hear cars going at unbelievable speed up and down this stretch of road. The Police are not allowed in Warwick, so anyone is free to come over here and test your skills every night, 9:00 pm till 5:00 am. Be there!

  14. Shawnette Bean says:

What do you mean when you say the police are not allowed in Warwick?

    • Zombie Apocalypse says:

He means that night-time policing is infrequent and lax, therefore there is nothing stopping any idiot from driving up and down South Shore like a maniac.

      • Opressed says:

Correct Zombie, on a number of occasions the public have called the police to report illegal activities only to be told no one is available or don’t hold your breath as we ‘re not going up there.
This drag strip in not limited to cars, but any form of legal or illegal motorized vehicle is allowed. There are NO legal repercussions, you getting road rash, or worse is the only consequence.

I believe the last time I saw a police car in Warwick (other than speeding through to get to the other side) was when an officer was lost and reading his tourist map.

  15. shoe on other foot says:

until you no the details think before you talk people!! all that matters first and for most is that everyone is still alive!! geeshhh people always quick to jump to conclusion and no it was not the car that took you over on harbour road!!! there is more then one car that looks like that!! put yourself in the drivers seat befor you throw stones. mistakes happen

  16. Oooo says:

This car came jamming cross me on my way out of Somerset… along with many other wannabe nascar drivers leaving the bash up snorkel…. I’m not surprised… Glad to see everyone is ok tho…

On the other hand, them are some ugly rims son.

  17. Observer says:

Big up Firekid and Quik Response Towing!!

  18. Jai says:

Please stop drinking and driving/speeding! Take a taxi home!

  19. OwEmJee says:

Cha, if u feeling too nice, Don’t drive… if u feeling heavy at the foot, sure, let her rip, have fun…. its your life….. just dont do it with other peoples children IN THE CAR… know your limits… especially your car’s….

  20. Your all c$#s! says:

Your all talking like you know what really happened tho, the driver was NOT drink if you read properly it says he was arrested for suspicion of impaired driving doesn’t say he was! Anything is friggin possible on these roads, shows what you all do with your lives & that’s nothing sit around & judge then wonder why the younger generation is the way they are! His car was just bought so I highly doubt you saw him on harbour road. Try finding out the story before you come on a website & talk like you know the situation! & the media ISNT ALWAYS RIGHT! Acting like any of you drive on these damn roads at 35 miles per hour get a damn life

  21. Get With It! says:

Shoe on other foot!Since you are so osympathatic to the individual that smashed up his car near Coral, and if it had not been for the palm tree, this story might have a totally different outcome. Perhaps you would be singing a different tune, if drivers like this end up carenning into you or hitting you head one one late night. This is not a normal occourence… throw the book at him. I hope other road users have bothered to call into 911 to report what the witnessed as this car drove from the west end…. Late night hi jinks, drivers who act like no one else is on the road in the wee hours of the morning. Anybody remember the horrifc accident that occured at East Broadway and Spurling Hill, many years ago, two people died, a family lost their only son, a cycle rider. The driver of the car lost his pregnant girl friend. That incident occured though dangerous driving minutes after leaving Disco 40. The Courts should have extra powers to keep these people off our roads for longer periods of time and the Motor Insurance companies should make the premiums in-ordinately higher than regular drivers and if that does not work.. refuse to insurance them in the future!

    • Nonsense says:

Insurance companies do refuse people like this but that’s if they know about it. Our lovely government doesn’t allow insurance companies the access to driving records and offences without the person going to collect a letter themselves. If they do not have a suspicion then do not request the person to get a letter. Therefore people can slip through the cracks unless a record of an accident is on their file or their name is posted in the paper for an offence.
Also, people once they know they are declined go to idiots who know this and take ownership to insure them under their squeeky clean record in order for the person to have a vehicle to operate.
Point is there is always a loop hole.

  22. Irritated says:

Please!!! Give Me The Subes That You Young Bies Can’t Handle On The Road & Stop Writting Them Off!!! Mercy!!! Drinking + Driving + A Beautiful Car x Irritated Car Lovers In Bermuda!!! = Potential Death & Time To Grow Up!

    • Possum says:

And that was a beautiful car, all to the change in the new color of the rims by the new owner, may have been too much for the new owner to handle???
