Hmmm, who didn’t see THAT coming??!!

    • Swing Voter says:

yeah…we know you did it, but we can’t prove it becuz nobody is sayin a damn thing….30 plus people drinking at woody’s and they don’t know nothing and can’t remember anything?????

  2. Brook says:

Dang we are all so surprised!!!!

  3. Sorrry says:

get the hell out of bermy!

  4. DUH says:

Obviously they are let out on bail because IDIOTS refuse to cooperate with the police. No one talks, no one pays the price. Sure, blame the police but you are innocent until proven guilty. Blame yourselves.

    • ABM says:

Serious??? Who exactly is refusing to co-operate?? Who is refusing to talk?? Or are you just dropping an opinion in a fact pool?
THE PERSON WHO TRIED TO DESCHARGE THE WEAPON WAS FULLY CLOTHED WITH HIS/HER FACE COVERED!!!!! HOW ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO SEE THROUGH THAT???

  5. Withheld says:

Great, now that the perps are out and have the ability to make good on their previously failed attempt, the public can go back to being very afraid for their lives.
I wonder where they will strike next and will they succeed? Have they fixed the firearm? Will it be at a roundabout or a social gathering where I may innocently be standing next to their intended target?
Deep sigh, work and home, that’s all we can do and we still may be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I used to feel safe in Bermuda. I feel sorry for anyone with teenagers, how your heart must hurt every time they walk out that door.

  6. Come Correct says:

Can anyone explain to me why this escalating violent crime seems like a pathetic excuse for the government to take control of the police? They take credit every time the BPS appears to do something right, anything else and its “we don’t have control over the police the governor does”. If I’m not mistaken, at some point a little while back didn’t the government request to take control of the police? Just after that violent crime is on the rise, now at an all time high, while the plp have sat back denying the gang problem and cutting the BPS budget. I don’t understand the logic and its kind of stupid to decrease the funding to one of if not the most important issue on our island these days. Then again I guess its a bit hard not to when governement revenue is down and we’re in debt.

This problem isn’t going to go away if we keep attacking it so passively. Obviously gathering

    • Terry says:

The Commissioner of Police ultimately reports to the Governor.
The actual day to day running falls under the command of the Deputy.
The Minister responsible is always in contact with the Commissioner (related note-Ex Assistant Commissioner).

Under the Constitution thats how it is run. The Governor does not and in no way tell the Commissioner what to do and when to do it.

Best left alone and run by the seasoned Officers who are on the ground and up to date on everyday runnings.

If Government get involved it would become a Police State. If you don’t understand that then read the Constitution.
Remember the Assassinations of the Governor and Police Commissioner. They were POLITICALLY motivated.

This problem isn’t going to go away if we keep attacking it so passively. Obviously gathering forensic evidence and waiting for the public to come forward isn’t making too much progress. Rename it the BPF, pass a law that if you’re involved in gang activity in any way you for forfeit your rights, gather intelligence on these guys, obtain a warrent, and make their lives a living hell. I’m not talking about cleansweep, I’m talking about operation “shock and awe” all over again. Storm house, detain, clear out, establish perimeter, bring in a dog to sniff out guns and amunition (though they’re trained to smell gun oil and I doubt these fools clean their weapons) and look for anything recently touched or moved (ceiling access, dressers, loose floorboards ect.), tear the place apart, search the grounds for freshly dug holes, leave, continue to gather intel, still involved? For best results repeat when necessary. Mother, brother, innocent resident occupant? Sorry, dis-associate yourself with gangsters, have a nice day :) eventually they or the people around them will get tired. Oh and get rid of that parole and out early on good behavior crap. You want out early? Prove you have changed and give back to your community first, even if it means going school to school to warn children of the consequences of your stupidity and selfish acts. Its about time we got serious, demand results and force these creatures back into their holes.

We shouldn’t have to live in fear, we shouldn’t have to feel like prisoners in our own island, having our freedom impared by lawlessness. Did thay weapon have to work before we do something proactive about this?

It does not do to rely too much on silent majorities, for silence is a fragile thing, one loud noise, and its gone. But the people are so cowed and disorganised. A few might take the opportunity to protest, but it’ll just be a voice crying in the wilderness. Noise is relative to the silence preceding it. The more absolute the hush, the more shocking the thunderclap. Our masters have not heard the people’s voice for generations, and it is much, much louder than they care to remember.”

  8. Like It Is says:

This will continue to happen, unless all those who are living double lives take a real look into how they help to keep this going on.

As far as I see it, this problem is a problem for everyone. Not just the PLP, or the OBA nor the police but every Bermudian that does not want to see Bermuda destroyed by a minority.

The problem is a mindset problem, those that are invovled dont really care and the ones that do care are still somewhat involved with the ones that are doing these silly hurtful things, its as simple as that.

People in general have alot to say and criticize, but very rarely do they have solutions.

My solution was to stop lying to myself, and to be more honest about my actions. So I stopped being a part of the negative behaviour and friends, as well as I started to think for myself again and leaned on what I had been taught. I still have my challenges, but I do know that living in a way that is not good only brings one end…..and along the way tears many lives apart.

To those that see things and dont say a word…SMH, cause what happens when it happens to someone you love?

There is more to life then sitting around drinking selling ya lil twists and waiting for the next package, while at the same time living in an illussion, that is handed to you by the same losers hanging around before you…its tragic!

I was caught up in that for a long time…I thank the Almighty, and those dear to me that stood by my side and did not give up on me…those guys on the street (my bredrens) where really not my brethren, and when I figured that out,it changed me.

If anyone is looking for a solution for a way out,its HONESTY.

  9. um says:

question: How is it that if you give the police information about someone-half of bermuda knows within a matter of weeks and or eventually, who the person was that gave them the information?? This may explain why people do not speak up because some just do not trust bps and feel their lives maybe at stake should they say something and the culprits end up finding out it was them that spoke up…. just some food for thought….

And on another matter…police check points need to be a regular protocol…dont wait til after something drastic has happened to ‘set up shop’ along WELL KNOWN suspected areas….smh
