December 31, 2012

Bermuda became a winter wonderland this past weekend when the thermometer plunged to 12.9°C/55.2°F.

Bermuda Weather Service meteorologist James Dodgson said the low was recorded during a shower last night [Dec 30].

The weather conditions prompted the Bermuda Weather Service to issue a Gale Warning, Severe Weather Watch and Thunderstorm Advisory over the weekend period.

The forecast for the remainder of the day said: “Gales and showers will continue this morning.

“As the associated cold front moves away eastward high pressure over the southeastern U.S. will begin to move in behind it easing winds and bringing mainly fair conditions this afternoon through tomorrow.

“Another cold front will approach from the north Tuesday bringing another period of gales Tuesday night and Wednesday.”

New Year’s Eve revelers can expect to feel the chill tonight, with forecasters predicting a low near 15°C/59°F.
