Netball: Unity Tournament & Who’s Who Results

nball130112The Bermuda Netball Association held their Unity Tournament for the Juniors and the Who’s Who Senior Knockout Tournament at the Bernard’s Park on Saturday [Jan 12].

The tournament sees players draw out of a hat to see what position they will play, and games were played in five minute halves.

The Netts Whites won all their games on their way to winning the Under 12 Division, the North Village Lady Rams finished second with only one loss and finishing in third was the Young Men Social Club Baby Bluebird.

The Under 15 Division was won by Young Men Social Club Younguns, while the NU Art Superstars finished second and the North Village Lady Rams finished third.

The Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds won the Seniors Who’s Who Knockout Tournament, the DataTech Netts finished second and the WWC Panthers finished third.

The Who’s Who Tournament for the Seniors was a single elimination tournament, with all ten teams participating. The WWC Panthers defeated the North Village Lady Rams Too 15 – 5, NVCC Lady Rams defeated the SS Warriors 16 – 3, Data Tech Netts defeated Robin Hood 15 – 7,  the Young Men Social Club Blazzin Bluebirds defeated the SignWorx 10 – 8 and the Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds 9 defeated the SS Tigers 9 – 3.

Then there was a winners Pool that saw the following teams play: DataTech Netts defeated the Young Men Social Club Blazzin Bluebirds 16 – 3, while the WWC Panthers defeated the North Village Lady Rams 17 – 8 and the Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds defeated the WWC Panthers 14 – 7.

The final was between the top two teams, the Lady Bluebirds and Data Tech. The Lady Bluebirds came out victorious in extra time, and at the end of full time the score was 14 – 14. The match would then be decided by a golden goal in which the opposing team had to score on their opponents center with the Lady Bluebirds coming out victorious.
