Inmate Admits Assaulting Another Prisoner

April 18, 2013

Prison inmate Pelealkhai Williams appeared in Magistrates Court today [Apr 18], where he pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily to a fellow inmate inside Westgate.

Williams — who is currently serving time for his role in a shooting — pleaded guilty to unlawfully causing grievous bodily to a fellow inmate George Dyer on 4th March 2013. The Court heard that Williams came up behind Dyer and punched him, causing injuries that required surgery.

Williams told Magistrate Archie Warner that: “I didn’t hit him very hard. I hit him because he was mouthing me off.” He was sentenced to one year, however it is to run concurrently with his existing sentence.

  1. Zombie Apocalypse says:

“He was sentenced to one year, however it is to run concurrently with his existing sentence.”

To put it differently, he got off absolutely free. No consequence at all. Not one day more in jail.

This has to stop. Concurrent sentences are the essence of stupidity. They should be completely banned.

    • Pickup says:

I agree – it is a complete waste of time and money and no punishment. We need Magistrates with a heavy hand.

  2. boston baked bean says:

Absolutely agree. Never heard of concurrent sentences for 2 separate convictions. What in the heck are these judges thinking??

  3. Family Man says:

A freebie. That’s real deterrence. I bet he won’t do that again with those sort of consequences.

Archie, it might be time to retire and go get a soda with Jughead.

  4. Paradise Reclaimed says:

Seriously? Blind kidney punch for mouthing off, and not one day added to sentence. Excellent message!

  5. Pastor Syl Hayward says:

What was the point of taking him to court? The transport, the officers’ time, the court costs, Legal Aid, etc., for him to get a concurrent sentence?!?
I don’t understand this court system, and from other posts on this thread and previous threads, neither do most of us ordinary citizens. Somebody needs to set up a seminar or two to explain it to the country.

    • WhistleBlower says:

I TOTALLY agree a WASTE of tax payers MONIES!!!!!! Our judicial system NEEDS an OVERVIEW!!!!!!

  6. Bermudican says:

The punishments worse than that in the Boy scouts lol.. what a Joke the court system is becoming.

  7. Lisa says:

Time for Warner to retire, like is he foreal! This is why these inmates do what they do, no consequence for their actions.

  8. Ike says:

How do you pronounce his first name?

    • Truth (Original) says:

      With an aspirin.

      • isralite says:

Its hebrew you dumb ass his name is to advanced for you that’s why you need an asprin. You prob couldn’t say it even if he told you to ur face.soo don’t try and get at his name cool.

        • Truth (Original) says:

That Hebrew name didn’t serve him well did it? More important that naming children names that mean “something”, we have to live right before them and teach them well.

Both he and his advanced Hebrew name are in Jail.

  9. Mad man says where is Lavern and fiends? says:

This is utter nonsense . These gang members are causing terror indside and outside of prison and the legal system is failing to take note of it. The DPP should be appealing this sentence.

  10. Truth (Original) says:

Perhaps someone from the legal community can explain the point of a concurrent sentence. Us, non-legal types just don’t get it.

    • kdfdfdf says:

concurrent means he serves no extra time..he is sentenced but whilst serving his term for the shooting he is also ‘working’ off his one year..its a waste of time in all fairness..what we need are consecutive sentences.

  11. nuffsaid says:

Got to agree with the Pastor: Gurl, you hit de nail rite on de head.

  12. Triangle Drifter says:

What a waste of time & DPP cost! Why bother? A suspended sentence would have been more appropriate.

The judiciary needs an overhaul, not an overview.

  13. kdfdfdf says:

can we please get rid of this concurrently sentencing..give them an extra year!
