PLP Leader: ‘Roast Was An Honour & Privilege’

August 10, 2013

Following this Friday’s event [Aug 9], Progressive Labour Party Leader Marc Bean said the PLP Party’s first ever “Roast” was a success.

The Warwick South East MP was joined by his Parliamentary colleagues as Party members were invited to put their representatives under the spotlight questions and comments for $10.

“It was an honour and a privilege to be roasted by the people who have worked behind the scenes to make the PLP the voice of the people,” Mr. Bean said.

“On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to thank our members for supporting this event and helping to make it exceed all our expectations. On this our 50th anniversary, we intend to continue to connect with our people and fight to build a Bermuda where Bermudians come first.”

  1. CBA says:

Do they know that they’re using the term “roast” incorrectly?

    • Triangle Drifter says:

AS with so many other things they probably do not have a clue.

      • words of wisdom says:

Can u shut the hell up….and worry about whts happening in ur own party…who don’t giveba damn about u….they only care about their pockets…..u will soon see…trust me.

        • sonoso says:

lol i am sure we will ALL be on edge to soon see what will happen? you forget about what happened under the last 14 years that has yet to come to light, the only thing the PLP cared about was lining their pockets as you say… you will soon see!

        • Triangle Drifter says:

          Is that you Al?…..Al?…..Al?………

No, I don’t need to worry about the OBA. They are doing the best that can be expected given the steaming pile of manure that the PLP left them to clean up.

    • Falstaff says:

This is hilarious, has he got any idea what he is saying?? No people are gonna be roasting me, I can tell you.

    • Sandy Bottom says:

Just what I thought. What they did is not a “roast”. Of course, a roast takes a sense of humour and willingness to laugh at yourself. That will never happen with this lot.

      • Triangle Drifter says:

I’ll never forget one night at the Clay House Inn many years ago. It was the Not The Um Um show. Paula Cox, Jennifer Smith & other PLP glitterarie were at the next table to me.

        This was pre 1998.

Any digs at the UBP, & there were many, had them rolling in the aisles backslapping each other.

Any digs at the PLP & they were stone-faced cold. Hilarious! Watching Paula & Co was better than watching Bruce & the guys onstage.

  2. reader says:

Call me when you no longer view life as a “fight”.

  3. Lebron says:

YUCK, pass me the bucket. “An honor and a privilege” – yeah right Marc. What a lot of horse s***.

  4. Raymond Ray says:

“…we intend to continue to connect with our people and fight to build a Bermuda where Bermudians come first”
Yeah, sure you’re right Marc Bean(where Bermudians come first) What happen for the 14 odd years when your Party were our Leaders, where did Bermudians come then?

  5. Concerned Citizen says:

Call it what you like OBA faithful, the reality is that my Leader is Always available to talk to the people. He gives interviews on radio, tv, and print, NEVER needs a script, and is always willing to take questions from the public without somebody whispering in his ear. Now………..speaking of Leaders, can you tell us just what your ” Premier” brings to the table in this regard? Nothing at all? Thought so!

    • Cleancut says:

Talk! Talk! Talk! yes those guys in the PLP can definitely Talk! 14 years of Talk! Talk! Talk!
Paula Cox was excellent at Talk! Talk! Talk!

I think we have had enough talkers for a while, especially people like Marc Bean who can just about talk your pants off.

Its time for doers not talkers, people who actually do the job, and do it right.

The PLP’s Minister (EGO) presentations are over, its time for results!

    • Raymond Ray says:

That is one of numerous problems with the P.L.P. faithfuls. They need a Leader because they have difficulty thinking for themselves… :-( In reality, when a person id B/Sing they never need a script why should they?

    • Mike Hind says:

The problem is that he should maybe listen to other people, ‘cuz the stuff that he says? Well, it’s occasionally borderline hate speech.

      • Mazumbo says:

        EVIDENCE!!!! LMAO

        • DUHHHH says:

lmao that’s right mazumbo, EVIDENCE! cause that is mike (be)hind’s favorite word! lol

        • Mike Hind says:

          Watch how easy this is…
Providing evidence to back up your claims is just THIS simple.

Marc Bean said that gay marriage is “an attack on the foundation of civilisation and on life itself…” and that the purpose of it is to turn “civilisation upside down”.
          Royal Gazette, July 12th, 2013.

That, to me, is hate speech.

Now. Will you be calling for the folks claiming that the taxpayers might be paying Ms. Davis’ legal fees to do the same? Or are you just trolling?

  6. Nuffin but da Truth says:

the plp are finished, they will never get back into power in Bermuda.
Just all of you lot go away and never come back, you are not wanted here.

    • Time Shall Tell says:

You talk as though the end results of MP representing each party was THAT far apart. It was nothing like how UBP lost & to consider a lot of people didn’t vote who usually vote PLP (many who have since regretted their move) as well as the few who did vote OBA which now regret it… Well you get the point.

    • Mazumbo says:

Go away to where and not wanted where? lmao

    • frank says:

the oba did not win in December think about it you sound like a… from the old ubp stop look and listen for the real change that is coming and it is coming sooner than you think and our leader leads from the front

    • frank says:

stop look and listen for the real change that is coming

  7. SoMuchMore says:

no party is better than the other. they are both a shame.

  8. Rhonda Neil says:

All these hurting OBAers, all they can do is lash out…maybe we should invite them to the next “ROAST”

    • Barracuda says:

Its funny, talk about a roast, and all the chickens start squawking.

    • Sandy Bottom says:

But this wasn’t a roast, Rhonda. This was a publicity stunt. Having a few party faithful ask softball questions at a PLP event is not exactly challenging.

      • Time Shall Tell says:

Sandy this was open to ALL since they where offering temporary PLP membership at the door. If you wanted to ask a “hardball” question the option was open for you. Since you didn’t, don’t cry now.

        • Sandy Bottom says:

So they only allowed PLP members to ask questions. Like I said, a publicity stunt. Cetainly not a roast.

  9. Sick to my stomach says:

I can’t believe the amount of bitterness and hated that I see on these blogs… 19 comments about a fundraiser. REALLY. And none of them are even about what actually happened at the fundraiser, just a lot of vile bitter and hateful words. It’s sickening!

What are we adults showing our young ppl when a negative article can garnish 20-200+ comments and articles about our young ppl doing great exploits overseas amd locally garnish 1 maybe 5 if that.

What can our young ppl garnish from this level of attention that the adults give…. That they might as well produce bad behavior because that is the only thing that the adults respond to; because when they do positive and good things no one comments or cares.

Bernews. I applaud your efforts to put more positive stories then negative ones. It’s too bad the comments section is not used more productively, rather then hatefully.

    SIGH…

    • Hey says:

The money was being raised for the PLP.
Therefore the PLP got money, therefore to the PLP it was a success.
Bermudians (PLP voters no less) had to pay to ask questions of their own party!

      WOW

      • Time Shall Tell says:

Thus the point of a “fund raiser”…… Look it up sometime.

        • Time Shall Tell says:

“fundraiser” before I get “roasted” for a typo…

      • SoMuchMore says:

dumb clowns… they don’t realize that they’ve been fooled and nicked and dimed by their own party lol.

      • Mazumbo says:

Historically fund raising help the black community to reach a goal when the couldn’t get help from the Oligarchy Jim Crow Racist System who wouldn’t assist them, unlike the same system didn’t need to fund raise because of generational legal theft that has kept them wealthy. LMAO

      • Somebody's Momma says:

The people who paid did so voluntarily. There was no entry fee so you could attend and not pay to ask a question. I agree with “Sick to my stomach” so many vile comments about a fun event. Interesting that people have such an opinion about an event that they didn’t attend.

        • Sandy Bottom says:

Yep. It was a fundraiser. A publicity stunt. It was NOT “connecting with the people” or any other grandoise label that Bean or others put on it. It was also not a “roast”. It was a bunch of softball questions from party faithful in a PLP fundraising event. A publicity stunt.

  10. Cavello Bay says:

Mr. Bean get rid of the “deadwood” within your party, including u! Much thanks, then maybe i might contemplate voting for the party again! Roast that!!

    • Concerned Citizen says:

You never voted for the PLP! Now, list your best OBA MPs, and try and list at least 10, that can compare in ability to ANY 10 in the PLP. Ps…..silent surrogates do not count! Haha

  11. Cavello Bay says:

@ concerned citizen since u look at my user name u think um white (racially profiling)!! LMAO! Just ask where kim wilson where she lives! BTW no need to compare politicians they are the same, dont forget the “white” surrogates within the PLP! Haha that!!

    • Concerned Citizen says:

You just profiled yourself dumb dumb, lol! Nobody but yourself mentioned white or black, which suggest that either ALL black people vote for the PLP, OR, ALL white people vote OBA/ubp! Both positions are wrong, so please do tell, what is on your conscience? Look before you leap, think before you speak, or you will just be that lost sheep……

  12. Cavello Bay says:

LOL! I like that last little riddle on the last sentence! I will never be a lost sheep, i never throw my eggs in one basket unlike yourself!! Since you are such a “concerned citizen” why weren’t u so concerned of the last 7 years of the PLP’s rule!? BTW i am mixed race actually so u stop jumping 2 conclusions son!

    • Concerned Citizen says:

Ok lickle bwoy, whatever suits your fancy……..
