    • sonso says:

you have said this a couple of times, please elaborate…

      • buzz says:

there is No Conspiracy Theory, People just get more desporate around Christmas and when Money is harder to come by they get even more desporate.

  2. Headless Horseman says:

    Nail these guys!

  3. Kenneth Maybury says:

    And the beat goes on.

  4. Awake says:

As long as we continue to call the Police Service a service, rather than FORCE, these armed robberies will continue and will grow in numbers. And as long as our police aren’t patrolling the roads then the freedom to break the law (speeding, robberies, etc.) will continue. Police vehicles parked at the Station is a give away!

    • Gopher says:

Police are a service to the public and the police service comprises of various forces. It is there to serve the public not to force the public. None of these forces however have hired Flash Gordon, Iron Man, X-Men, or Superfriends because they charge too much for their skills and are a bit overqualified. Ever since Smeagol stole the magic crystal ball from police headquarters, which used to predict when and where crimes were about to be committed, we’ve had to rely on the public to report them and arrive at the scene after the crime is committed not before. I agree it’s not the best we can do but until Frodo Baggins gets back with the crystal ball intact we’ll have to sit tight and ride the wave out on human resources and social reformation. Sucks.

    • Let's Think About This... says:

How many police do you want there to be? Do you want two to be camped out at every establishment and every house on the island to protect everything? It’s not the police’s fault these robberies happen. They do what they can, but even Superman isn’t omnipresent (meaning everywhere at once).

    • Watcher55 says:

If you think for one second changing these clowns department name is going to make any difference ….dream on!

    • The police can not be in all places at all times! Be for real, will you! Maybe you think that the Police need to close down the stations and just be out there in the street 24/7 conducting investigation and interviews from the back seat of their cars. You are out of touch with reality. Force/Service or whatever you want to call it can not stop a society gone astray from good old home training, discipline and guidance.

  5. craig looby says:

bermuda has a corrupt economic and governance system that needs to be completly restructured…..more crime will happen as more people find their backs economically against the wall with no options in sight.

    • Craig Looby, I have seen your comments like this before, how about giving us some ideas of what you think would be a non corrupt economic and governance system rather than just spouting off with no solutions as so many other B’dians tend to do.

BTW I dont like our governance system either, but its a lot better than what many other countries have, so i will go along with it for now until we can devise a better one.

      • aceboy says:

It is a great way to explain all the evil in the world. It is the “system”…not the people in it….the system. Their “better” system is one in which everyone is treated equally no matter what they do or are capable of contributing. Socialist utopia. Trouble is, eventually you end up in a bread line in those utopias.

        • Hudson says:

I agree aceboy. At some point we have to recognize that any society is only as functional and healthy as the persons living and participating within it. Government can’t solve our issues; laws cant solve our problems; churches can’t solve the disintegration of our moral fabric. People have to take responsibility for their own actions and those of their children.

  6. God Grant me the Serenity - please says:

I hope the Raynor family is ok. This is awful. Bermuda is certainly another world. What next?

    • Soooooooo says:

No… Bermuda is becoming more like the rest of the world…

      • Gopher says:

I’m afraid there’s no more becoming left to become. We have made a solid arrival on the global scene. I just hope and pray that those we left behind don’t become like us now.

      • Esther Elaine Kelly says:

@soooooooooooo – pardon me? That was my exact point. We are definitely another world far from what we used to be. Guess I was wrong to assume others would catch on. Soooooooooooo sorry.

  7. watch says:

If people had jobs things like this wouldn’t happen. Recession is the only reason things like this are happening so frequent. You think someone who has worked a 9-5 knocked off from work and went do this? People gotta eat.Bills gotta be paid. Government better create some of them 2000 jobs they promised. Idol minds create crimes

    • Whistling Frog says:

So what about people who have jobs and steal from their employers? What about employers who steal from their employees? What about the banks who are now ripping of their costumers? People are going to steal regardless of what they do for a profession. Its called greed, its a satanic thing some people love doing…

    • will see says:

You are a fool if you think any government can create 2000 jobs!

      • tricks are for kids.... says:

Well I guess everybody that voted for OBA because of this election promise is a fool than…….

        • DeliverUs says:

the OBA promised a friendly atmosphere for job CREATORS. no govt can create jobs.. oh wait… the PLP did by exploding the civil services so i guess you’re right. now all our taxes have to go to paying these people who got jobs for being friends of the PLP.

          • Gopher says:

Oh I get it now. So they promised that their friendly atmosphere would make job makers make 2000 jobs?
Lol Um no, they promised 2000 jobs.
They certainly did a job on us that’s for sure. I won’t be voting for them again. They lie.

            • Hudson says:

Gopher are you really stupid enough to think that a) 2,000 jobs would appear within a year of you ticking the box and b) that the OBA would create the jobs in the civil service? Did you miss the whole election platform? Of course the “job makers” aka private business would be the ones creating the jobs hence why the Government has been bending over backwards to try and make the Island a little more business friendly. Of course many Bermudian’s who ultimately would benefit try hard to counter these efforts by doing dumb things like rob gas stations which don’t exactly help would be business to grow roots and grow in Bermuda…

            • DeliverUs says:

sorry Gopher, under LIE in the dictionary is the PLP logo followed by pics of EB and the rest of the cabal. If you want set the clock back 100 years you go ahead and vote PLP my friend.

            • Grand Wizzard says:

to you less-intelligent folks…. even if you think the OBA is not fulfilling its promise of 2000 jobs added, don’t you realize that the stupid PLP TOOK MUCH MUCH MORE THAN THAT FROM US?

        • frank says:

          yes they are

    • Kiskadee says:

This is people on drugs who need money to buy drugs not food. There are jobs out there but these thugs don’t want to work.

      • Joonya says:

These guys (likle many on this island) are spoiled! They dont want to work and want money the easy way. Their mommas are enabling them too. I will bet my last dollar that these scum all are wearing the latest designer jeans and sneakers with thousand dollar chains around their necks. Pathetic lazy punks!

      • AwayFromHome says:

There are jobs out there? Really? Then why are so many people out of work?

      • Next says:

No drug addicts break into houses, they don’t rob stores. And there are thousands of people out of work so maybe you should point them all to the direction of these jobs. What a moron.

    • Toodle-oo says:

So , after making off with the loot do you really think these guys went and paid their rent ?
Maybe got a few delinquent insurance premiums up to date?
      Bought groceries ?
      Paid TELCO and BELCO ?
Squared away with C/V or WOW ?
Got some dry cleaning done ?
Bought paint to freshen up their places for Christmas ?

Personally , I , and a whole lot of others , strongly doubt it .

    • Hmmm says:

We pretty much did all have jobs before the PLP’s terms. This is down to criminals with poor parenting and moral guidance.

    • Dee says:

So ‘watch’ if you are unemployed its perfectly acceptable to rob a gas station at gunpoint to pay the bills?!!

    • Annie says:

@Watch: There will always be people who will steal regardless of if they have jobs or not-it’s called GREED.

There are people who work but feel they aren’t getting what they want fast enough or simply want to keep up with the Joneses. They know they won’t make money fast enough the legal way and so revert to crime.

However, I agree that there are some people who are just plain desperate and we will see more crime as desperate people resort to desperate measures.

    • Gopher says:

That’s kinda like excusing men who rape because they can’t get legal goodies.

    • Hudson says:

Watch, I’m unemployed and can promise you that I would never consider stealing. My moral fabric would never let me stoop to that point – it’s just how I was raised. Is life tough? Sure it is, but stealing from any person or business creates two problems instead of one.

      • Real Deal says:

        What are your pressures?

When is the last time you or your child felt the pain of hunger hungry?
When is the last time you have been look down on as less then a human? When is the last time you or your kids have been made fun of because of social status?
When is the last time you have seen progress?
When is the last time you have thrown away your pride?
Do you have a cave that you can call your own protect it and provid selter for your family Or do rent a Cave that has mounthly payments that are slipping into amounts that you can nolonger be aforded.

Humans are weak. Only with God can you find the strenth to hang on to morlity.

  8. Judge & Jury says:

Please, lets show our support for the Raynor family and the staff who work at the gas station.

  9. anony says:

I am so tired of persons blaming all crime on the government and the recession. Majority, if not all of the gun crime is being committed by a bunch of lazy good for nothings who choose to remain unemployed and live the lifestyle of thugs. The end.

    • DeliverUs says:

Exactly! And the Police would do us all a service by enforing the existing laws on the books. What about the ban on Pitt Bulls? I see Pitt Bulls all over, even at the Vet’s. Is the Vet morally obligated to report the owner? Much in the same way as a priest or doctor is obligated to report law breakers? What about speeding? If you clamp down on the laws that are being broken brazingly in public every day you will find these fools easily.

  10. Sad Day says:

    GOD HELP US

  11. Noway says:

They playin to much GTA 5 great game but makes u wanna try this shi/

  12. X man says:

What all business Owners should realize is that any Business/Shop in an Isolated area or location in Bermuda will fall victim to Armed Robbery.
Sad to say that any Business in any Isolated or semi isolated area should have CTV and Security.
    Unfortunately it is a must.

    • bermyguy says:

clearly u didnt read the part where mr raynor said there are 21 cctv cameras at the station so having cameras dont matter.

      • Y-Gurl says:

The camera’s wont help, the cops will never catch them as usual and that will feed the criminals desire to strike again, there is nothing giving them any incentive to stop, least of all an effective police service

  13. Jokerville says:

Sad how people look forward to talking smack on Bernews. The real fact is nobody cares in Bermuda a hole heap of finger pointers that aint about nothing A BUNCH OF SPOILED IDIOTS OLD AND YOUNG GROW UP AND LEARN HOW TO LOVE RAISE YOUR KIDS YOU DICKHEADS AND STOP PAMPERING YOUR BOYS TOUGH LOVE IS GONE SO REAL LOVE WENT RIGHT BEHIND IT I CAN’T STAND THE WAY PEOPLE HAVE BECOME.LAZY PUNK BOYS WITHOUT NO GUIDANCE IS A DANGEROUS MIXTURE!

  14. me says:

    beware gas stations they comn!

  15. Grand Wizzard says:

We the public should have a right to bear arms if the gangsters and criminals do anyways.

What kind of world do we live in, where it is illegal to carry a screwdriver or pocket knife, but you have thousands of miscreants running around fully armed with machetes, pistols, guns, automatic weapons, etc?

Will you just stand limp and useless as the criminals out-arm us? How many home invasions and forced rape of underage girls will you allow?

I want a gun, loaded, so I can point it straight at that cockroaches face when he breaks in my house. Then BLAMMO no more vermin. Why send him to court, so he can get off with a slap on the wrist, and go out and commit more of the same crimes?

Our court system supports and gives excuse to the criminal lifestyle, due to certain cultural demography of our island. I have heard a judge pardon a young man after he assaulted an 80yr old woman, threw her to the ground breaking her back, which ended up killing her. The boy got off free because the judge agreed the boy grew up in a tough neighborhood.

That is not justice. It is the height of ignorance. And this ignorance is allowing the animals to trample on our rights as human beings.

LEGALIZE GUNS AND AMMO FOR CITIZENS WHO HAVE A CLEAN CRIMINAL RECORD!

    Grow some common sense!

  16. Realist says:

Pampering these ganstas has led to this.
Lock them up for a long time,no chance of parole.Get caught with a gun,25 yrs in the slammer.
Minister Dunkley the former govt allowed this to flourish under their tenure,do not do the same!

  17. craig looby says:

and for those who say this is a drug related crime…your only supporting the view that drugs should be legal in the island town of bermuda, so that those who are addicted can get their supply from safe injection sites, this system exists in other much larger places…to prevent drug related crimes…and to take the profits out of the drug trade……as stats show as more ane more regular people find themselves more ane more economically desperate in the land of pleanty known as bermuda….crime will increase….and eventually those crimes will reach the door steps of all of you who continue to ignore the fact that this island has been engaging in economic terrorism and exploitation of the poor and working poor for decades…..those of you who continue to make excuses to not change this system…..the poor already out number you.
