other130824Bermudian Rai Simons scored twice on Wednesday [Nov 6] as Ilkeston FC came from behind to beat Northampton Town 7-4 after extra time in the FA Youth Cup being played in the UK.

Ilkeston were in serious danger of heading out of the competition when they trailed 4-1, however Luke Shaw, Ryan Osborne, Goran Seymour and teenager Rai Simons all sprang to action and piled in the goals for Ilkeston to claim the 7-4 win.

Speaking after the game, Ilkeston boss Kevin Wilson said, “We gave Northampton a little bit too much respect in the first half but did fantastically well to dig ourselves out of trouble.

“You could see at the finish what it meant to them. They have certainly done our club proud by getting to this stage of the competition and who is to say that they won’t rise to the challenge at home to Accrington Stanley in the next round.

“As I keep on saying, this is what Ilkeston FC are all about and our supporters really need to buy into what we are doing at the New Manor Ground.”
