New Goalkeeping Academy To Be Launched

February 13, 2014

Teams and clubs at all levels have complications with training goalkeepers, with a lack of facilities, a lack of expertise and a lack of time some of the common complaints. Consequently, KPMG has decided to try and help the budding young keepers in the area with a new Goalkeeping Academy.

The Bermuda Sells Goalkeeping Academy will be coached by Jay Smith, a former Bermuda national goalkeeper and NSCAA levels 1 and 2 qualified coach.

“Our aim is to develop confident, technical goalkeepers whilst teaching essential social skills such as good sportsmanship and respect, in addition to a good attitude to practice and play.” said Coach Smith.

“The program will focus on all aspects of goalkeeper training covering; technical, tactical, physical, and psychological qualities of the goalkeeper, enhanced and refined through specialized, challenging, and age appropriate training.”

Coach Smith added, “This is a great opportunity for budding goalkeepers from grassroots up to hone their skills and take their game to new levels in a fun, pressure free environment. We would like to thank the Bermuda Police Service for allowing us to use their field”.

Each Goalkeeper who attends the Academy will get regular progress reports highlighting their strengths and weaknesses and targets for development.

The Academy is located at the Police Field and offers the following options:

  • $25 per 30 minute session [7 – 10years old],
  • $35 per 45 minute session [10 and up],
  • $200 for the 10 session curriculum, or
  • Club packages [contact coach for more details].

Not only will the Academy develop goalkeepers, they can also film training sessions and games which is important in today’s recruitment process.

Call Coach Smith at 333-3706 or email at Jay.smith@sellsgoalkeepingacademy.co.uk to reserve your spot before all are taken.

$25 FOR 30 MINUTES SMH IF YOUB REALLY WANNA HELP PEOPLE WATCH THE PRICES THATS WAY TO EXPENSIVE.

    • The Fact says:

Then buy the $200 curriculum ($20 per session). ALL extra curricula’s have a fee and if you read other reports, they have franchising fees and I’m assuming field rental fees. Good idea with limited recourses. At least they trying.

So quick to knock someone for their efforts and don’t provide suggestions. What do you call affordable? IM just saying!!!

Im sorry and who are you? Are you a business consultant or someone from consumer affairs? How would you know what is expensive or not considering that there isnt anything like this currenlty on the island? Dont know this guy but what i do know is that this is needed and other than camps, that last 1-2 wks, there isnt anything like this on island.

Atleast this fella has a vision and is taking a risk on trying to do something he enjoys.
