Update 8.05pm: A Government spokesperson said, “At 5:45pm this evening, a private Cessna Citation aircraft aborted its initial landing attempt at L.F. Wade International Airport due to an indication light in the cockpit that signaled a possible malfunction with the landing gear.

“It appeared that the landing gear was successfully deployed, however, was not locking in position. The aircraft was placed in a temporary holding pattern whilst the pilot attempted to rectify the fault.

“Arriving British Airways flight 2233 was cleared to land whilst the aircraft was holding.

“At approximately 6:10 pm, the pilot declared an emergency. All response personnel were advised and the Airport’s standard emergency procedures were put into affect including the temporary closure of surrounding roadways.
