Butterfield Preparing For Abu Dhabi Triathlon
Bermuda’s Tyler Butterfield is preparing for the 2014 Abu Dhabi International Triathlon, which will take place on Saturday March 15 in the United Arab Emirates.
The prestigious event offers some $40,000 in prize money for the first place alone, and Butterfield will compete against some of the best in the world including reigning Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee, reigning Ironman World Champion, Frederick Van Lierde and Spaniard Eneko Llanos.

Butterfield — who placed 3rd in last year’s event — said, “I’m looking forward to going head-to-head with Frederik and Eneko again in the hope of working my way up that podium and improving on last year’s result.
“Having the best of the best competing really pushes you to continue to up your performance and improve each year.
“I’m under no illusion that a podium in Abu Dhabi is a given – there are many other good athletes all aiming for the same goal. It will be a tough, hard race, that is always a guarantee.”
