Govt. House Gardens To Open On Sundays

April 24, 2014

Government House Gardens will be open to the public each Sunday afternoon from this Sunday [Apr 27] until Labour Day.

Governor George Fergusson, said today that he hoped Government House’s neighbours would be able to share the beautiful and excellently maintained grounds on Sundays this summer.

A statement from Government House said, “Entry and exit will be by the North Gate on North Shore Road. Visitors are encouraged to come by foot, pedal bike or use the No 11 bus, which stops near the gate, as there will be no parking allowed on the grounds.

“The garden will be open from 12.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. each Sunday, but will not be open over the Cup Match weekend. Families are invited to come and relax and enjoy the space, but visitors will be asked to respect the gardens, especially the gardens being run by students from the three Pembroke Parish primary schools: Victor Scott, West Pembroke and Northlands. Visitors are asked to be considerate of others using the grounds by not playing amplified music and not bringing dogs.”

Governor Fergusson added, “I am looking forward to seeing families – particularly those living near Government House – make use of this wonderful area, and have a chance to enjoy the views, the historic trees, see the bluebirds and generally have fun.”
