Yankees started off strong with fours runs in each of the 1st and 2nd innings but the Phillies equaled this with 3 runs in 2nd and 5 in the third. However the Yankees fought back and scored 4 runs in each of the 4th and the 5th innings to increase their lead by 9. The games scheduled for next weekend have the Phillies playing the Orioles at 10:30 and the Yankees playing the Cubs at 1:30.

The 13-15 year olds also opened up this weekend with the game featuring the Pirates and Orioles. Corey Simas started the offense out quickly with a deep shot to left field and landing a double and scoring later in the inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Orioles’ bats came alive as Olu Salawu belted a double to right center field and Donovan Stubbs followed that up with a line drive single scoring Salawu and putting the O’s on top, 2-1 at that point.

However, the day would belong to Corey Simas and Pirates as Simas pitched a complete game giving up only 4 runs on 4 hits and striking out 14 of the 26 batters he faced. At the plate Simas had 2 hits with 2 R.B.I.s, and teammates Stephon Paynter, Kalae Fox and Scott Bean also all contributed with 3 RBI’s each. The player of the Game was Corey Simas

The Pirates and Orioles will be playing again next week at 10:30am.
