Chewstick To Commemorate Dr. Maya Angelou
Owing to her contributions to the creative community and humanity at large, the Chewstick Foundation has chosen to commemorate the late Dr. Maya Angelou by painting a mural of her on Wednesday June 18th at their location on Court and Elliot Street.
The mural is due to replace the current mural of the late Nelson Mandela, so the public are invited to enjoy the existing mural and write one last personal message on the exterior wall before it is covered.
Chewstick’s Community Art Program would also like to invite the community to help determine the best way to celebrate Dr. Angelou. Please visit their Facebook page and provide your feedback on the mural design and which poems and quotes should be associated with Dr. Angelou.
