Results: BBA Criterium Racing In St. David’s

The Bermuda Bicycle Association’s held their Criterium race this morning [Aug 31] in Southside St. David’s, and Dominique Mayho was again the man to beat.

Mayho and Shannon Lawrence broke away from the rest of the peloton early in the 45 minute contest and stayed away until the end with Mayho taking the victory, while Anthony Bartley bested his teenage teammate Justin Ferreira to take third.

In the Adult B race the peloton stayed together to force a mass sprint for the win, and Randy Burgess came out on top followed by his teammates Ricky Smith and Kareem Johnson.

Relative newcomer Sean Dickinson waited until the final lap of the C race to get ahead of the competition while in the Women’s category, visitor Michelle Gauthier escaped early with Heather Roque and then dropped her companion to take a convincing win. In the junior categories Kaden Hopkins won the Jr. A race, Ben Edwards the Jr. B and Alex Southern the Jr. C title.

BBA racing continues next Sunday in Hamilton with another criterium, which is style of road racing contested over a course of less than 3 kilometres and for a relatively short period.
