Football National Academy Training Cancelled

October 20, 2014

After sustaining damage during the passing of Hurricane Gonzalo over Bermuda, the National Academy Training field is closed today [Oct 20] and tomorrow [Oct 21], with scheduled training on those days necessarily canceled.

A spokesperson said, “In advance of the storm, we took steps to dismantle and secure the goals and netting at BFA field.

“Preliminary assessment shows that we did sustain some damage with loss of poles for the netting behind the northern goal. A more detailed inspection of the field and facility is currently being undertaken.

“In order to allow us to clean up the facility and bring it back to safe operational status, All National Academy training for Monday, October 20 and Tuesday, Oct 21 have been canceled.

“We will issue an update on Tuesday evening regarding the status for training scheduled for Thursday [Oct 23].”
